    gents

You'll have to get a tub yourself if you want to count them.Keep em cool in the fridge and the longlife gents will last you over 3 weeks.
  2. And I believe the brine outfall and cleaning agents from that is held and contained in ponds?
  3. Ahh, my nipples have just exploded with delight! :cheer: So I'm confusing Onesteel's $10M plant with the proposed $700M plant?
  4. Maybe putting a halt on the Whyalla desal plant would also be a good "precautionary measure".You know the one, at Point Lowly....situated adjacent to the giant cuttlefish breeding grounds and newly developed marine park.Oh no, forget that, it just happened to fall outside the boundary didn't it....silly me!
  5. Unless there's some sort of a direct question for PIRSA coming forth, I'll be moving this topic to "General Fishing" where it belongs.
  6. RECREATIONAL fisherman will be allowed into marine parks as part of an overhaul of the way reserves are managed by the NSW government.Primary Industries Minister Katrina Hodgkinson told reporters the government was delivering on its election commitment for a "commonsense marine parks policy".Environment Minister Robyn Parker said the first change would be to open up an additional 85km of coastline to line fishing from ocean headlands and beaches."There is little or no scientific basis for preventing line fishing from land," she told reporters on Tuesday."We are immediately giving an amnesty to
  7. The worst part is the first 50m from the carpark to the beach, from then on it's all smooth sailing..........in fact you'll find it to be a highway with just as much traffic.Regardless of what anyone chooses to tell you, reduce your tyre pressures when driving on the sand, if nothing else to prevent chewing it up for others.Remember you're speed restricted, coz the beach is classed as a road, so keep it down to 45kph and keep an eye out for kids.If/when the sand gets soft, keep the momentum going, and keep your wheels straight.DO NOT use low range....it's a mistake many make. Stick it into 4WD
  8. I've tried a few different timeframes and find 18-24 works well.Any shorter and you will chew sand.Any longer, as you've suggested, without a pump and circulating water it will quickly go stagnant, they start dying, and they'll stink up the place. If you leave them longer than 24 hours, change to fresh saltwater, and as long as you keep them cool they'll be fine.Alternatively, purge for 24 hours, stick em into a container in the fridge without water, and cover them with a damp towel.....they'll stay alive until you cook them.
  9. It's just that short stretch from the carpark to the beach which is the issue, and the Adventra is an all wheel drive, not a 4wd designed for this type of thing.I was there a few weeks back and it's really soft.Instead of the Pajero which eats it up, I took the Suzuki Grand Vitara which IS a 4WD, although it has bugger all ground clearance, and I got it bogged by slowing and trying to slowly get around someone else like yourself who tried taking an all wheel drive through there and didn't make it. For me it was no problem, as I just needed to dig out a little sand from behind my wheels, get a
  10. Sorry! Jack and the other staff are not eligible! We wanna be fair, the prizes are for members, not staff.
  11. Easy to cast accurately and inexpensive, but they do have pretty crap drag systems. These reels were once quite popular, but rarely used these days. The Daiwa Gold was about the pick of the bunch.I keep one here myself for the novelty, but it's been in mothballs for many a year.
  12. For me, a good report needs to be structured, with actual punctuation rather than one long paragraph/sentence. It has to have at least one picture. It has to share some information, and it has to be an entertaining read.I dunno if staff can nominate threads or not (I should've asked), but here's a couple I've read recently which I think worthy of consideration.....maybe members could choose to nominate if they consider them as good as I did:This first one blew me away! 13. For me, I've got a stainless steel crab boiler pot which sits on the kitchen stove. For larger numbers, I've got an old old electric boiler which was once used in a hospital for boiling up sheets and linen......element like a kettle in the bottom, but the thing holds about 60 litres of water or more and ya can do any number of crabs all in the one hit.
  14. And another vote for steaming.......I am a recent convert!
  15. According to the museum there are 56 species of Perinereis worldwide, and 15 of those species are found in Australia. You may know them as spaghetti worms, rag worms, lug worms, or a range of different common names. Here's some reading you may find interesting on the subject should you wish to delve a little deeper:http://www.gbri.org.au/Species/Perinereis%28Nereis%29sp.aspx http://www.pdfdownload.org/pdf2html/pdf2html.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Faustralianmuseum.net.au%2FUploads%2FJournals%2F17748%2F47_complete.pdf&images=yes(Note: click on "try viewing with google" to display the pdf.)Me personal
  16. If it's good for angling, development, and local enterprise, there is no reason why Strikehook anglers wouldn't be keen to assist and support wholeheartedly!Let us know what you want, when you want it, and lets work together for mutual benefit!
  17. Sam, I can see great benefits for the angling community, hopefully along with another successful SA business enterprise.Live worms make a great bait for a number of species, they can be difficult to obtain, they can be expensive when purchased.A ready supply at a reasonable price would be a great benefit to the angling community.Likewise, if the angling community can be of assistance during the development stage, you would have our full support, with a view towards a successful venture.Congratulations on the PhD, I'd be interested to read your research paper once completed, and if the staff fr
