  2. just reopened this thread... Jags.. sounds like a great idea only filling my freezer at the mnoment.. was thought to clean it out over winter but i woudl love to catch some snapper with ya!!!
  3. i have a TRINIS i got from Jagger, that is 1-3kg and very stiff. but its 6'3 and a single peice. ultra light i use it up in the creeks for trout..
  4. yeah im an oyster lover as well.. having the shack at coffins bay helps my addiction as i just get them by the bag full at a good price ;p but since i started touring i havnt been home all summer to enjoy them.. so this bag has sat in my deep freezer since christmas. figured they would be pretty good for ground burley for snapper/whiting etc. but as i dont have a boat its not much use to me.
  5. i went one of the cheap ones... lol 100$ was my upper limit on it. will post up my thoughts when it arrives
  6. the old man loves fishing.. so im in the good books..
  7. as the topics says.. i have a bag of oysters.. about 20dz give or take a few.. they are from coffins and went into my freezer just after christmas. so id say they are no good for eating now.am wondering what good they would be to some one as burley crushed up etc??? anyone interested? was thinking barnacles etc are great for bream.. oysters crushed up should work well for other fish ???
  8. my parents have one.. they swear by it. and i just purchased one online as well. will be very handy! gonan have it in my patrol when touring next month.
  9. a gournard while salmon fishing is probably one of the strangest ive caught.
  10. GDK.. yeah... it will certainly be interesting... softy and i have both had our yaks down there.. but to no avail at this stage.. though.. didint really give the kings a fair go last trip.. i was happy with 2 sharks off the beach instead
  11. got a shack at coffins.. seen them come up dozens of times... aint been lucky enough to hook in yet.. lol but that does sound like an interesting method... my plan is to hook one in the kayak... landing it how ever will be the real issue...
  12. go see waterboy at porties..( Forum Sponsor)he might be able to line ya up! brighton i havnt seen too much alvey gear in.. then again.. i havnt been looking either.. usually only there for my YFW bait.. happy to help out mate.. tho im not often around at moment due to work. but if your dead keen on beach fishing... you cant go past a alvey.. not the best for tossing lures due to their 1:1 ration on retrieve.. but.. for chucking baits.. you cant get better i use them to target salmon/snapper/rays/small sharks and hopefully get a mully trip in soon..
  13. go to a local oval and no hooks.. just a sinker.. cast and retrieve cast and retrieve.. as for locals... everyone has their favourite.. what area you in?
  14. johnny.. where abouts are ya.. i fly to perth tomorrow.. but if your localish.. might be able to T up a casting lesson/trial of a alvey and big rod.. Brenton, Nev, Myself.. all alvey users.. Rocknev is probably themost prolific land based snapper catcher on here.. all caught on a snyder glass rod and bog alvey 650C is the way we go.. make sure it has a clutch/drag system the older style 650B.. bit of a knuckle buster.. Softy... i got a few.. just need to fix up my spare rod.. should give you a start for a loaner.. i have 4 big alveys.. 2 big single peice rods.. im chasing a coup
  15. great site.. have spent hours on it.. glad you finally gt into it.. reckon i passsed you the links 8 months ago
  16. love catching.. love eating.. only thing that hasnt taken my fancy so far has been morten baybugs.. tasted rather soapy when i tried them last time..i grew up in coffins bay land based fishing.. and i love all teh table fish available from the local areas. i enjoy many species that others dont.. such as salmon.. as a good preparation and cleaning properly these fish can taste fantastic. another of my favourites is beer batered tomies!! when caught fresh and cooked that day... dam good!! most of my fresh water fishing is done catch and release though. only a couple of trout have ever been k

  22. ive tried most of " Adelaides Top Steak Houses" or so they claim..Sostas, Gouchos, Argentinian Bar n Grill, BA Brassier, Stag, Elephant and Castle, some english pub out in eastern suburbs... and the bbq Grill down at the bay.. which FAILED hard.. whats your thoughts on best steak house in Adelaide?? best commercially available steak dinner?? at at what prices?
  23. one spot was looking down coffins channel.. there is also kellidie bay, and locks well and camel beach and places around that area.
  24. not KI.. down at my shack.. a lil place i grew up.. 14 shacks on the beach.. just around the corner from one of the best fisheries SA has to offer..Jags, id love to organise a trip down there.. my parents have the space to host a few boats vans campers tents and swags... they both fish and love fishing.. though we are all shore based over there usually.. as none of us have owned a boat.. so would have to use others knowledge for that side.. Land based we would still have hundreds of options.. specially with a few 4x4s.. but even my boss wouldnt mind a bunch up at the camp site..( bit furt
