  1. Ahh nuts, looks like it'll be a few weeks until the winner will be announced. Stodgee it's not over yet!!
  2. Generally it's the end of the minor round, I'm hoping it is too because I'd love to take home first prize, never been on a charter before!!!

    YFW HB lures

Btw the only problem I can see with poppers/HB lures off metro beaches is the fact that the YFW tend to only feed on live tube worms, therefore it doesnt seem like a logical area to be using these sort of lures that imitate baitfish. Has any1 had much luck with these around this area?

    YFW HB lures

Cheers for the lure advice brenton, I have hardly ever used poppers before. The times I have used them they have never been effective, but i wanna give them a good crack for YFW because it would make fishing for them even more enjoyable than what they already are!
  5. Well that time of the year is fast approaching us again where the yellowfin whiting appear on our coastline and provide great entertainment and meals . Over the past few years I've only being using the traditional method to catch these guys on live tube worms off metro beaches. Majority would say that this is the best and easiest way to catch them but this year I would like to try a different approach. Seeing I entered the world of HB lures not long ago (with the capture of my first bream on HB) I was thinking of using some sort of popper or HB lure to catch them, it would be so exciting! If an
  6. I wouldnt personally use bream as live bait, they are not much good. If I were you Id be looking at trying to catch some trumpeters, mullet or gar. These fish are much better live bait! Haven't really got many runs in the port river but in the lake it doesnt really matter where you fish as mullies are located all around the lake. We have had runs before from many different locations, just have to get out there and give it a shot!Cheersbaldy
  7. Ranger is that your fishing buddies you take out on your boat? They look like professional fishermen
  8. I bought a pack of sp worms for this seasons yfw however never really got round to using them because live tubeworms are the best bait you can get. Should of given it a shot tho I suppose, Im sure they'd work still.
  9. Yeah thats true the pogy tail would help with vibrations and stuff because of the inbuilt action it has on them. That's a nice fish mate, u certainly have them worked out! How long have u been fishing for them for, and how often?
  10. Yeah I've heard pink is a good colour for them, but mainly on the schoolies. I have some Berkley 3" power minnows in pink lemonade because of this reason, I'm sure they would be very similar to that killer tomato from squidgy!
  11. Or 4lb flurocarbon like me at the moment (I'm looking to get busted off! ) If anyone wants an explanation for my insane measures its because I want to give myself the best chance of hooking a mulloway to work out that I'm giving the lure the right action and technique. Then I'll upgrade once I realise I can't bring the fish in. What do people think of the squidgy flick bait in pilchard colour? It's the one in an old magazine where Shane Mensworth and his son are fishing the port and they seem to have success in that colour, I'd say it would be the 110mm one. Never used any squidgy products yet
