  1. I would love to have a hark or similar as I see the recipes and the finished products on the Aussie BBQ forum and it makes my mouth drool - but I can only dream - but would also love to have some the BBQs some of these guys have (they are so into theirs meats it is incredible). But thought a simple smoker for the fish I catch will at least give a different flavour - and you guys seem to be giving it a big tick. I'm generally thinking of smoking tommies, mullet and salmon, but what other fish do you try or do you put other meats in these little smokers?
  2. Thanks fellas for your input. I went and had a look today, didn't buy just yet, but it looked ok for $40. Felt a little thinish but most probably do to a point. I think I saw 3 burners in it, but as you say outandabout only 1 probably is sufficient. Good point also underpants about any breeze through the vents. I don't have any bricks haha but some alfoil should do the trick. Probably will pick one up for sale ends. Cheers again.
  3. seeing poppa snakes 'first smoking trial' post ( got me to thinking about buying a smoker, not as good as poppas but a far cheaper model/type. I saw this advertised at Anaconda and wondering if anyone has similar or better for around the same price? http://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/camp-cooking/camp-cooking-appliances/mojiko-deluxe-smoker-oven/p/BP90022007 It is a Mojiko brand and it seems to be expensive when not on sale at $110, but on the sale price of $40 it seems a reasonable price for a first start up - however, it could be a crappy smoker for all I know. So any t
  4. I also purchased the Mojiko nylon last year (40% off and currently have them for 30% off) and have them to be ok, although as they don't breath my thin trackie pants underneath are a little moist at times from condensation/sweat - but mainly on the warmer days after winter. I'd prefer to have breathable ones but for me they are a bit costly as I'm cheap skate like keenfisho. I tried on the neoprene type at the same time to compare, but found them to be a bit 'clingy' to my body and so not as easy to put on or take off. Especially if in a difficult situation of say being dumped by a
  5. well done, and no wonder you're ahead of me in the tipping. Bet you didn't pick GWS !
  6. Who would've tipped Gold Coast Suns to beat Fremantle at Subiaco ....not me
  7. Not many, if any, Bluey's - just sand crabs (and not worth the trouble).
  8. Wow, that is a curveball. And again, this information is hard to find for the normal people, so new signage definitely needs placing at the start of the jetty, as who would of thought just taking a crab net onto the jetty could have someone faced with a fine. Good info kon.
  9. haha "Bright as a spud in a sack of onions" I think you're being kind to him I don't think having the crab yet with you is illegal because of "intent" as the same could said with having 5 rods with you that you "intend" to put all 5 lines in the water. I saw someone help another guy pull up a squid last Monday using crab yet due to squid size - not a problem doing that.
  10. Totally agree and the signage is non existent about fishing/crabbing and only mentions about the aquatic reserve and it's purpose etc. The yellow line towards the end of the jetty is completely worn off between the the 2 signs for no fishing/crabbing. For say non locals visiting the jetty for the first time would not be aware about no crabbing at the start of the jetty. They walk towards the end and see a sign No fishing/crabbing past these signs, so presume it is ok before the signs - so this does not help the cause. The PIRSA pdf states "Prohibited Activities Bait digging, spear fishi
  11. That I don't know Plankton. Maybe actual staff - only on the thought that volunteers may work in their area of living and would/should know the rules - but really don't know.
  12. Whilst down on the Port Noarlunga jetty this morning, Fisheries made a visit about 8ish. People at the end of the jetty, but within the legal fishing area, were fishing and crabbing. Fisheries had a brief chat to them before moving on. Later I went up to them just to mention that crabbing was not allowed on the jetty as it classed as an aquatic reserve. They advised that the Fishery guys did not know if they could use crab nets or not, so let them be. I advised they need to check the PIRSA site to confirm what I said and they were all fine with what I said, but as Fisheries
  13. What !! No chocolate ones ?
  14. The wait was worth it Southie - Excellent shots.
  15. Not sure Panga, all I know is Telstra is yet to connect him up with same or different number (I'm guessing it will be the same). Number 224 (Seaford Rd Seaford) Those travelling South will need to turn right onto Seaford Rd (where new Bunning store is), go over Commercial Rd and will be on the left next to Foodland store.
  16. Couldn't see this was in another section, but in case you are not aware. The Scene Fishing at Old Noarlunga has moved onto Seaford Rd Seaford. (next to the small Foodland shop). Opening doors today (1.3.16) but no phone as yet until Telstra connects it. Obviously there will be a lot less traffic going past his door, so if down this way please support Kosta as much as possible - I'm sure he would appreciate it.
  17. Looking good Crusher, nice colour and am gathering that is sawdust around them. I've been colouring my own gents for some months now and find the process quite easy. The strike rate does seem to be better, mainly on the red ones, but have found fluoro not too bad either. Also, have experimented with flavoring them - not sure there is any difference for the fish - but doesn't seem to make much difference - and I ain't testing the flavor myself to check The next experiment is going to be using dead gents - ones that are killed without losing any colour or toughness to their ski
  18. nope. put your name in the search field and it shows stuff mainly back to 2014 (except a poker game in 2015). Can't see anything else to do with gents.
  19. Can't seem to see the facebook video - comes up with an error (says " content is not available right now)
  20. Thats a good diagram (like to know how you that). The bottom one showing where the line can snag/tangle is definately the culprit. The top one showing the tubing covering the ends of the float should definately reduce the problem in theory. I only say that because I found it didn't solve my tangling issue as I keept getting tangles on most casts with the tubing in place. What was happening was the leader was now actually wrapping itself around the float (eg. not getting caught at the ends) whilst in the air. What solved it, in conjuction with the tubing, was moving the split s
  21. Well I have solved the tangling issue. I put some plastic stoppers on each end of the float as suggested, but didn't think this would solve the issue as I already had split shots at each end anyway - sort of defeating the purpose but give it a go anyway. Nope, didn't work or help much as still tangling through the air when casting - the odd cast was ok but many tangles. Some also suggested to use a heavy leader, but reluctant as wanted to be light tackle although in theory I could see theory behind using a heavier line for the leader (basically it may keep it a little more taut and
  22. Saw this recent article that may interest us. Size limits, bag and bboat limits on the agenda. http://www.pir.sa.gov.au/alerts_news_events/news/fisheries_and_aquaculture/have_your_say_on_recreational_fishing_in_sa At the bottom of the article is a link to pdf's and how to give feedback. 23. Exactly how I attach my float rybak. A very simple way of attaching float and adjusting when needed.
  24. I know I have a problem when I go to lengths to conceal my latest purchase from the wife......difficult when she decides to come out in the boat for an outing, or notices the rod rack beginning to sag. Yep we've all done that. In fact, it will even continue
  25. Well I dont know about you but there is always a bit of tubing somewhere around my house, does not have to be clear, bit of old car fuel hose, garden irrigation tubing, bit of old electrical wire casing etc etc There is bound to be some tubing somewhere around the place, I never buy it deliberately, just scrounge something Best to get tight fitting tubing, that way the line will stay put until you pull it through with a bit of force. Most floats will take 6mm/1/4 inch tube. For a berley float as pictures just that black tubing from garden micro spray set ups is perfect Of course, t
