  1. Not True.So many untruths out there when it comes to commercial fishing. All commercial fishers, be it longlining, netting or any other method have to abide by exactly the same size limits for all species as us reccos.
  2. I have a pair of Horne waders and after a few years of use, one of the clips on the strap broke. I went into the factory to enquire about buying a whole new strap. Within minutes the strap was whisked away out the back and returned with a new clip fitted. Best of all, at no charge!Worth the extra money in my opinion.
  3. There is a fishing show, that started in Tasmania, called Hook Line and Sinker. (Can be seen on Fox on Ch 183). Anyway, they went raking for crabs over at Cowell. As suggested, like everything else, this is on You Tube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XJBqUCF_zIReasonably good look at how its done. Exactly same method as northern beaches in Adelaide.Best suggestion is to head to a popular spot like Thompsons Beach on a good low tide and see what others do. Be prepared to walk out a long way, as the tide goes out along way on these shallow flats.Great fun though and a good way to get a feed
  4. Long answer - See Kelvins PostShort Answer - Yes, same shark.
  5. This is in Port Norlunga Aquatice Reserve, crab nets are not allowed, it is line fishing only. Get yourself a crab rake and head north.Need to wait for some better tides, later this week. Should be good Thur / Fri and next weekend. Thompsons Beach and Port Parham have been producing some good crabs for the last few weeks. Aim to get there about 2 - 3 hours before low tide. Lots of little ones to wade through. (pardon the pun).
  6. Think you will find this is unlikely, as the Govt currently puts in money at the moment to Fisheries and the rest is paid as part of licences by commercial fishers. It is more likely any money received from a rec licence will result in the Govt reducing the current level of funding they provide, to sav money.End result will be no change to the current situation, which is a joke. Before agreeing to a Rec Licence, I think it would be important that the Govt commits to not reducing their current funding levels.
  7. Pick a colour, any colour. They are JAZ Lures. (website is http://www.jazlures.com)This is the RAYZA model and come in a 40mm, 65mm & 90mm size.Thy are hard to locate, not sure if any local stores stock this brand or model. There is an Ebay store - Amazon Outdoors - that has them on Ebay at the moment. They retail from bteween $13 nad $16 plus postage.Hope this helps Tony.
  8. Note the response from PIRSA on this topic. It is not an offence to debarb a Ray and release it.Interesting that they "can" grow back.I personally still do not like the practise, but each to their own I suppose. Though it is acts like these in the view of the non - fishing public that does not help the image of the average fisho.
  9. I have to say, I am with Ranger on this one. If you have a use for it, by all means, kill the animal. However, what is the point then of throwing it back injured, where it is likely to die a slow death. Just because it swims away at the time, doesn't mean it survives. If someone attacks and stabs you in the stomach and then you run away, can that person think, Oh he'll be ok because he ran away? Without any medical treatment you could easily die a slow and painful death. If you don't intend to keep it, why not give a chance to live, so that the next angler that comes along may have a chance
  10. Unfortunately not likely to be illegal, (I don't think cruelty to animals extends to fish), but you have to consider the mentality of someone that does something like this.Just another reason why fishers get a bad name. If other people see this sort of behaviour from a small minority, we all get tarred with the same brush.
