Hi just bought a new 4000 size sienna and was wondering what braid to put on it with out spending a lot of money any advice would be much appreciated
Cheap reels deserve cheap braid.. Sealion is good for the money I've used it before as well. At least it breaks at its rating so you can be confident about that.
You wouldn't put Sealion on your Saltigas and Stellas hey. So it's all relative

Wow thats a steal and a half! Great rods for the price I have the 4-7kg soft plastic Snapper and love it.

Hey Adam how are you. I know someone who had one of those and wasn't that impressed. For the money coulda asked around for a used Saltiga 60B. Now THAT is the rod to get. Absolute best rod ever made I just love it to death for snaps offshore with big baits.

Yes Important to put that braid on tight... It will act like a barrier to not let water penetrate deeper down the spool..(also make sure you apply light grease all around the spool before spooling)

Kelvin you are a good a chef as you are a fisherman!
Oh and you forgot the msg!

Nice looking reels for sure.. Those drilled slots on the spool remind me of my Z series Saltigas.
Anyway bring on the Tuna, sharks n rays!
Thanks: did it take 300m of the 90lb you bought? Hope you fellas get that line lay sorted

How much was the lethal? I'm looking to buy one. Just got a spool of 90lb daiwa samurai. Tossing up what reel but I'm 99% convinced the lethals the one for me.
Dayum man 65lb is all you need even for tuna around here.

I still rekon my Z6000 is the best haha.
But check this out.. You're either with Magseal or Stella's seals, it doesn't really matter now.
Check out Reelspa's facebook page. You will see so many magsealed reels not doing what its suppose to do and many Stellas not keeping water out like advertised. Rinsing the reel thoroughly it seems is key.

keeps the water out but lets the rust in!

$300 not cheap though but doubles as a snaps rod too

Hang on wait..check out the Saltist Bay Rubber at RA's. I have one for whiting/snaps. Absolute crazy rod its like a whiting stick but man has it got some balls for such a thin blank. I use it for snapper off my boat as well.

Whats a lunkerhunter never heard of it.

Thinking about getting a twin power. All reels have small issues. My mate owns nothing but saltiga's. While they have been great there is an issue with mag seals leaking. The guy he gets to service his reels says it happens with almost all of them and when he tears them down they are usually dry inside, no grease left.
I have a Catalina but haven't had an issue myself.
Mate that is not good news is it. Hope this new 2015 series had all the bugs ironed out.

Loving the looks! congrats on the purchase man.
I will be getting one but not quite yet.
Also what rod are you matching it with?
-
Hey guys so who's getting the new 2015 Saltiga??! I think It's about 3-4 weeks away from hitting our tackle shops.
Looks pretty good I must admit although at first I didn't like it, looked like a Certate and the Ballistic with that spool design.
Still really enjoying my z4500 s-extreme so might not even bother.
Also they bringing the 3500h to the line up which is nice.
But hey the new Twinpower looks absolutely amazing with their new "Hagane" concept I really like it! I think this one will sell like hotcakes for sure.

A Diawa Seajigger what be my pick. It's a quality rod and not overly expensive. I seen people use these off jetties for Snapper. Its light too. Can double as a Salmon rod off the beach/rocks no probs. Also chucking livies out for mullies too if that's your thing.

I am now thinking one of the following combos:
1)
Red Okuma Salinda II Rod
Shimano Aernos 4000FA (12lb or 15lb line)
2)
Silstar Cystal Pro Rod 6ft Medium (6 - 10kg)
Daiwa Aird 4000SH (12 or 15lb line)
Feedback?
I know someone who had one of those Okuma rods and it broke so easily so I'd say stay away from that.
Silstar would do you good.

Hi mates I use Certate 3500hd with Dorado 70s for Snapper. I then swap the reel over to a Saltiga combi jerk for deep water. Expensive but they take a good beating well.
For whiting I just use any bream type rods with a Caldia 2000.
-
Saltiga Dorado 70s if you can still find one. Or the new 2010 All rounder 71s.
I think thats what you looking for. Iv'e got the original Dorado 70s and it's my fav Saltiga, very versatile rod and beautiful action, very comfy and super light.

Iv'e recently picked up the 64cj model matched to a Certate 3500hd for my Snapper duties.
I only got it over the Demon Blood because of the blue colour to match my reel lol. Great rod.
Is the BJ models out yet? Daiwa states it being released in spring.

Definitely look at Saltist Bayrubber. If I'm to fish Snapper and Whiting using one rod then that will be it. Rated to PE3
Gulp SPs currently $5 at Big W
