  4. Well what can i say went for afish with reelin and flubba last night had a decent run and got spat .So anyway this kept me motivated and frustrated for a bit longer .things were rather quiet and then i noticed a few small bumps on my rod and got all excited only for it too just leave it well so i thought anyway a few minutes later i was into another run although this time i stayed connected and a couple of minutes later landed a stompin wobi of 132cm biggest wobi ive seen caught anyway .pic isnt the clearest only cause it was taken on a phone but anyway was still some fun .MM
  5. well firstly mate welcome too aus aswell as strike hook youll find the amount of fishing you can do and the variety here in s.a is more then enough too keep just about anyone happy.I moved here from the east coast about 6 years ago and blowed if ill move back there in a hurry. Not just because of the fishing either ive met alot of good blokes from this site alone who i fish with more often then not.Now with your questions surf fishing can be some of the best fun going at times and it can be as exciting as watching grass grow aswell but thats fishing in general. As for rod selection well thats a
  6. as the boys said guess its all personal preference i dont think i even own a reel with mono left on it unless i dont really use it just the way i prefer too fish ,i used too fish mono on most of my gear but since changing too fireline on a cople of setups i havent gone back too mono yet be it at salties or anywhere else for that matter .i just prefer the braid myself.MMp.s some nice looking frontosa in your tank mate.
  7. cheers fellas totally agree though the buzz is just as good as when ya hook up yourself onto a cracker hopefully not long now and ill be able too kick back while he collects all my livies he cant get enough evey morning is the same question"can we go fishing daddy " and i dont mind at all ill be dissapointed when he doesnt ask .MM
  8. yeah mate that will be the day, just gotta get him casting next after he learns too leave the bait in the water for a bit longer too. Couple more years and ill get him onto the lures once he understands the concept of hooks being sharp so he doesnt go tooo silly with it last thing i want is too be hooked up myself or carting him too the docs and trying too explain too the mrs what happened .reckon we will prob have company a bit more through summer though getting the livies mate.MM
  9. cheers mate was a good little arvo actually went alot smoother then i had imagined. Soon ill get him out in the tub and see how he is with that so far i cant keep him out of the tinny i got from snake. Was great seeing his little face light up though running round yelling out about his fishy lol .MM
  10. hey fellas long time no post lol. well anyway my young fella has been onto me for ages too go fishing his only 3.5 years old but knows what lures reels rods and so fourth are.So the other day we grabbed him a chepo combo too thrash around as kids do and that just increased the amount of can we go fishing dad being asked as too be expected though gotta love em .Well yesterday seemed like a good time too take him for his first flick .Headed down too a spot on the river where a few of us regularly catch our live bait knowing there is always schools of something around there and got him all set fl
  11. dont quote me on this but my impression would be where the river hits the surf as its till the river flowing out till it hits open water then it would be classed as the outside or it could well be where the channel starts betwen the coorong and the main beach not alot of help here prob just confused ya even more lol .
  12. yeah not sure its helped me so much as catch the fish but definatley has inspired me too try different things id never really lure fished before they last 18 months or so and now 9/10 times its all i do caught some cracker fresh and salt water fish with some top blokes ive met on here and reckon ill meet alot more aswell as for info though im not really 1 too go on about spot x or the likes i understand some poeple dont like others taking peopler too "their" spots and respect that aswell i just dont fish those areas when ive got people with me which isnt hard and keeps everyone happy been put
  13. the way we are going we'll have been at just about every s&h members doorstep/fishing hole in the next 12 months .ill check out the vid soon too jimbo .MM
  14. ive got a silstar power tip in the 12ft and its accounted for plenty of fish over the years including a 60lb mullie so they can handle a fair bit of stick .I love it for surf fishing .MM
  15. hey fellas decided too try something different with soem salmon the other week so i filleted em up about 4 fish and cut them into decent size chunks removed the bones(as many as i could lol) and proceeded too fry the fish up seperatley and then removed from the pan heated up the good old chicken tonight sauce so it was already hot before i put the fish back in .let this heat up fora few minutes just too get the flavour into the fish and ona bed of rice my wife couldnt tell the difference even the texture seemed very much the same ,just a thought for anyone who catches salmon but doesnt really
  16. personally i think salmon will eat just about anything that swims past ive used plenty of different lures diff colours styles all soughts on salmon and i find the $2 chromies to work aswell if not better on some days then the $25 duplex or maria lures as some people call em .In my time i find if they are there then chances are theyll hit pritty much anything you can thrwo at em and get a decent speed on .MM
  17. nah sorry fella wouldnt of been us we didnt even look sideways at the jetty most of our fun is near the mouth .MM
  18. theres only 1 tip for that place mate and its cast as far as you can and wind as soon as you hit the water or like waterboy said its a lure graveyard for some people personally i do alright maybe lose 1 a week it can be pritty hit n miss though there they are tiehr on or youll get stuff all no real middle ground there .MM
  19. only way i ever really change my casting method is if im using heavier baits/gear ill use 2 hands on the rod or just 1 for flicking light lures guess its just a personal thing if you change how you cast or not dpending on the setup.MM
  20. not really sure what you mean here mate i dont think ive ever really had too change the way i cast but thats just me i guess whats so much different about the rod besides the length of the butt anything else ??
  21. nice fish mate and its deifnatley a tailor fairly under rated for the table too if you bleed and eat fresh they are quite nice in my opinion.Mulloway dont mind fresh tailor either . .MM
  22. you could be right about it not being really worth it on the low tide sitting in the car mate how ever it could be worth chucking some metal lures around for some salmon although this would require leaving the warmth of your vehicle ,Personally if the winds up id be heagin 5 minutes north too porties youd have more chance of a salmon there on low tide then you would at moana.MM
  23. no worries im still fairley sure it was 1 of that brand of rod that my mate snapped if i remember correctley iut was a maroon colour ,its just that name got stuck in my head after that night .From readin a lil on the site though im guessin alot has probabley changed with them by now as this was about 6 or years ago .MM
  24. as southie said i only use my little 7fter and 3000 reel and dont have any problems either casting or gettin into em guess its just personal preferance in the end ,i just love the fight on the smaller light rod .sought of makes a mountain out of a mole hill when you seem people round skull draggin em in with surf rods (if they can reach em ) and i get dragged around the beach left right and centre by the decent size fish in the school .MM
  25. yeah it doesnt matter how big the fish are its just a different buzz watching em hit something your workin on top of the water i love it.MM
