Yeah have a crack for some Salmon I reckon. What gear do you intend on using?I would avoid the southern metro beaches (eg. Glenelg, Brighton etc). They are probably finished until winter ends.Onk and Southport for mullet and ST

I remember reading one of Sambo's reports from West Lakes once where he caught one on a blade. In theory I think vibes would definitely work. Its just a matter of getting the courage up to sacrifice the time to go and put the theory into action.

Doesn't seem to work for me.Can you try again AF?

Yeah i have fishing lite too and have found it to be pretty useful. There's another one I have called 'Fishing.' The icon is a white fish on a red background. It has a whole data base of info on species, locations as well as other hints and tips too.

Cheers guys.I sort of missed out on the salmon last year due to a bit of a loss of interest. However, I'm going to try to get back into them this Winter with some metal and SPs. Just got to change to split rings and assist hooks first Will try to get down to Southport soon and see what its like there.

Hi guys,Just wondering whether there are any early reports of salmon showing up Waits/ Southport? If not, when can we expect to see some fish begin to show up around he place?I know there are plenty of STs about which are fun to catch too but this winter I'm a bit more interested in the larger specimens.Cheers

I like both for different applications' date='if i need to put the brakes on quickly or using S/Ps and vibes i go the 6.0,for slow rolling or large bibbed lures i prefer 4.7. cheers brenton[/quote']Yeah I tend to agree. Is a good little system, that.

In all seriousness, how the hell did he manage to catch that thing? What shitty tournament though. :cheer: Cheers for sharing TT

Hey buddy. When i first started out catching bream i used a small #4 hook' date=' 3 ganged on a running sinker rig with white bait, never failed. For lure i used a 10gram chrome steel holographic lure ($3.50 at Kmart) also worked awesome. I always started off on bait til i get hookups then switch to lure. Enjoy and happy fishing.Gimbles[/quote']Good tip there I reckon. I usually use bait in a new area to me. If I don't catch anything on bait then it probably means the fish just aren't there and it's time to find a new spot.Once you have located a spot where there are fish, then switch to lures. As smokey said, keep everything as light as possible. It may also pay to go into your local tackle store and ask someone whether you have the right gear/ lures for the job.One other thing I would recommend you do is to read a few articles on bream spinning in either wild coast or SA angler magazines. Such articles tell you what type of rods/ reels/ braid to run. Personally, I have a daiwa red back 4-8lb (as a medium size) with an okuma avenger 2000 loaded with 4lb braid.Good luck with it and I guess at the end of the day the most important aspec to bream fishing is practice. Through practice you will gain experience which will eventually put you on to some blue nosed thumpers.PS: I had that avatar pic when I started out on this site too!

40cm bream?20lb snapper. (although on this site many members have caught XOS Snapps)You could also have a 1m Murray cod or something? There's just about a milestone for every species.

I have noticed that too.Every bloody bream article says the same thing. "graphite rod, small spinning reel, fish the structure" etc etc etc. WE ALREADY KNOW THIS!I guess that's where wild coast is better because SA angler doesn't have reports or the brag board which will always be different.i think they both need to find some new material same stuff different issue getting over them to be honest... hence why i havent bought a copy for a while... just my opinion anyway
-
Nice stuff guys. Good viewing. Shame only one of the vids worked for me.May have to go to YouTube I think. :cheer:

I really like the regular regional reports in Wildcoast and I would have to say it's visually better than SA Angler' date=' no doubt, but there is something about SA Angler that I still love.Ill put it this way; SA Angler is like the Original Star Trek with Captain Kirk.... WILDCOAST is like star trek next generation, better special effects, and superior in nearly every way, but hey, Captain Kirk and Spock can never fully be replaced [/quote']Agree. I think there was some suggestion that SA Angler was looking down the barrel of a bit of financial hardship before too. So, the more copies bought, the longer they'll be able to survive, the longer we as a fishing public get to enjoy their publication. I would encourage everyone to gt behind them.

Try shooting twitch twitch 97 a PM.He has been studying up on cameras as of late and may be able to give you some good advice.

Cheers guys. Unfortunately we weren't able to get any.Things seemed very quiet down there. Maybe a few tackle adjustments are required for next time.Only fish caught was a catty by some other bloke.
Tip guide replacement?

If youre not an expert at rod building (like myself) I would recommend taking your rod to a tackle store. Personally, I had exactly the same thing happen to me and I just took my rod straight to Got One St Mary's. Although they didnt have the exact part I wanted, they still gave me a tough, strong tip which is still working today. At the end of the day it's probably not worth risking it by doing it yourself because there is always the chance that you may stuff something up and do something bad to your rod. It may cost a bit more to get a professional to fix it but I believe that's the way you should go.
