  1. Hmmmmmmmmm, and he's up for another Gold Logie  .........the Australian TV viewing public has a lot to answer for IMO
  2. sniff.........sniff sniff..........is that smoke I smell ?
  3. nice set up I use a MT8144 and a Senator 4/0 spooled with 50lb on the FWC for mullies and sharks for the last 20 years or so.I can only cast it 30 or 40 yards, but on those beaches with the gutters so close to shore, that's all you need A South African mate put me onto that set-up..........he (and his mates, along with most of the beach fishing brigade) used it a lot off their beaches, for sharks, rays and kob.........which I'm pretty sure we call mulloway
  4. John Huie sounds about as "elusive" as Linda Lovelace's oral practitioner...............Seriously though,he's probably a thorough gentleman, that is a true professional in his chosen field of expertise........ John's possibly a nice guy too
  5. I like fishing the tidal flats of Yorkes, and predominantly yellowfin whiting in summer......but still get a few KG's in the Autumn / Winter months (got a good one on Sunday).I prefer a long slow actioned rod for this work..........Gary Howard 10' Breambo 4W rod and a small Penn Slammer spooled with 6lb mono................a tiny swivel, then a 4 foot, 2lb fluorocarbon trace with small ball sinker (pea sized) running all the way to a small red bead above a size Mustad Aberdeen hook........a small clicker or sandworm bait, and you're on Works for me
  6. "Outlaws" got plenty of crabs early this week (Tuesday) at Moonta and today off of Port Vincent............hope to get some when I head over tomorrow am.Good luck mate

  11. Gold one looks like a "cheap Mexican copy" of a Van Staal..........I've got one absolutely awesome but dear :ohmy:Van Staal that is
  12. For snelling I have been using this basic but hasn't let go yet!reckon the Pommie carp fisho's call that a "knotless knot".....could be wrong though.......definitely another good one that I use for lighter tackle species........mullet,whiting,gar and bream.........quick and easy as you just saw.......single hook only though
  13. sorry,a bit and may have mis - read your post re paternoster ??????......to attach or actual knot
  14. Bimini is to create a double line ( loop ).......... yes for wind on's..........almost 100% strength of breaking strain.......first time is the hardest............a bit like being with ya missus In my opinion,"paternoster" is a style of rig rather than a specific knot.....could be wrong though
  15. I too love the USA Penns.........I have a 9500SS as a hand down from my uncle that was new in the late 70's.....only had new drag washers 10 years ago..........also have the 7500SS.Slammers are great, and also have a LiveLiner as well.......go the Penns though I reckon I might get a stella in Singapore......perhaps,maybe.........shhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  16. I hear them banjo's now boy........or was that a different thread?
  17. ........."and I can't get by without my Mum" ..........older people will understand .........for the younger ones,it was a popular "catch phrase" to a deodourant commercial on TV,featuring a pretty hot chick for the time  Probably on youtube
  18. Snell Uni knot Bimini Twist Spider Hitch Slim Beauty
  19. Used to get a lot of squid while fishing off the actual breakwater............not in the channel, but the sandy beach side.....normally around the 4th pylon from the shore
