  1. lots of responses, cheers for them all. i just bought Stella 10000 about 20 minutes ago online and when it gets here i will be putting either 50 or 60lb onto it. i would like it to be as thin as possible. i dont mind paying the money for quality stuff, what would everyone recommend i get?
  2. cool cheers everyone, i will have a look around but might as well stick to what i know works. very informative, many thanks :cheer: :cheer:
  3. well based on all this i might as well stick to the power pro. what does everyone know about fins? ifish raves about it but obviously they sponser him so he would say good things, anyone used it? and also, what breaking strain does power pro make up to? i want to spool my new reel with 60lb if i can...
  4. fair enough. i reckon i will get the Tcurve, i have used one and loved it but cheers for the offer
  5. i was just doing some browsing this arvo, i am going to be getting a Stella 10000 very shortly and the tackle shop here in Whyalla has it for about $1100, as does Sportsfishing Scene at Caven. i saw it online for $875. even with shipping thats at least $150 less, probably more. that saving will help get the rod i want as that costs i think $239 online as opposed to $300 here. i may well get the rod from here but that price for the reel, gunna be pretty hard to beat methinks
  6. thanks for the run down U4L, i figure that they must all be similar but based on what u said i might just stick to PowerPro. i heard about a super braid that Daiwa have just released, something like half or 3/4 the thickness of normal braid for its breaking strain? anyone know anything about this?
  7. just wondering about those of you who shop for fishing gear online which websites u have found to be competitive? i just bought some squid jags my tackle shop in Whyalla reckons they cant get ATM, used http://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au. any other ones out there that are good?
  8. possibly, how old is it? how would u compare it to the Tcurve?
  9. hello all just wondering what sort of braid everyone uses? do you think that the brand makes a great deal of difference or just personal preference? ATM i have 30lb power pro on a Stella 5000 and dont have any complaints but then again i havent tried any other brands. Opinions?
  10. i want to buy a jigging rod to match to a Stella 10000 spooled with 60lb braid. i am a fan of the Tcurve Deep Jig rods and want to get either the 200 or 400. i have almost made up my mind on the 200 rod but just wanted to get some input by anyone who has used either of these rods or anyone who has any advice. the outfit will be used predominatly to target large pelagics and sharks. the only thing that concerns me about the 200 is the rated jig weight is only 200g. im sure i could put a heavier jig on if i wanted to but anyone who can offer some advice it would be appreciated.
  11. Hooked on Fish i think it was, i remember that. one that stuck inmy memory was when he caught some bream from under the birkenhead bridge
  12. mate i reckon u should go into a tackle shop and get something from there. ur only really gunna start saving money online when u start buying top of the range gear and from the sounds of things ur not looking at that sort of tackle yet. my advice is to just go and get a nice outfit, there are lots of good combos at the tackle shops, and get out and start fishing! once u have done a bit of fishing and sorted out what sorta gear u want then start looking around at the top quality gear. i ahve a 2-4kg ugly stick with a shimano symetre 2500 which i have had for years and it only cost less than 200
  13. shimano all the way. love my stella 5000sw, buying a stella 10000sw and matching it to a Tcurve Deep Jig 200 within a month ready for summer kingies and sharks. to be honest i havent really tried any of the daiwa range but i am content with shimano so i shall continue to use it, hasnt let me down yet
  14. ifish and the dvd's tt mentioned. i got all but #25 of the fishing dvd and just bought all the ifish dvds avaliable earlier this week. i got hook line and sinker as well but they dont really take it seriously and when i watch a nshow i like to try and pick up tips, techniques etc.
  15. signed it as well but un ticked the box to join get up. i was 5 thousand and something
  16. this makes me so angry, there is nothing anyone of us can do about it either. im only 22, whats the world gunna be like when im 50? makes me sick
  17. they are crap, as everyoneseems to be saying. 80% shell, they stink and i personally found that they dont work anyway.
  18. i havent used either but if they are the same price then i personally go for shimano. im biased to shimano though. the extra spool on the daiwa would be handy though...
  19. the media always blows things like this way out of proportion, always scare-mongering
  20. ive never been but i saw on River Monsters and Extreme fishing about a lake in Spain where you can catch giant Wels Catfish. i spose fly fishing is pretty big there as well if ur into that...?
