  1. The down turns in the economy have always been great if you're cashed up. I bought a mid size Haines rig in the early 90's when the recession was in full swing and sold it 10 years later for more than i paid when the economy was flying. The next 12 months or so will be a great time to pick up a 2nd hand rig as folks begin to offload "luxury" items.
  2. Riding my old Norton one fine afternoon, wearing an open face helmet and wrap around sunnies when "SMACK" hit in the face by a bee, little sucker crawled under my sunnies and stung me right on my brow, slowly dying under the glasses and the sting pumpimg away i spotted a gent watering his lawn and quickly pulled into his drive and without further hyperbole asked him to remove the stinger. That ^^ and numerous times being stung by wasps when riding.
  3. My nearest K-Fart has pretty much 86ed all other brands, save for a a couple of JW rod and reels in favour of their "Sport Fisher" label.I did pick up some bargains over the years there though as some young casual employee had priced a Shimano Symetre at a whopping $29 and picked up some very cheap Ugly Stiks etc. Those Penn Mag Powers can be had very cheap from Anaconda when they have good sales. I have a 2000 reel and it's still going strong after 2 years and cops plenty of spray from the gunwhale rod holder while under way.
  4. It's all those darn Mexicans from over the border. Us South Aussies wouldn't dare dream of doing the wrong thing...where's the damn "tongue in cheek smilie"
  5. They are totally different examples to what this thread is about. This is about deliberate taking of Snapper during the ban. :pinch:
  6. Just got off the phone with Troy (if you're reading this thanks for the call). It will be/was alleged that the person was fishing with wire trace when and where he should not have been to put simply (he has 30 days to appeal). As per the AN article in realtion to the other chaps the investigation is ongoing as it will be alleged some of his mates were using non prescribed gear ie wire trace at a time and place currently prohibited under section 79 of the fisheries management act 2007. Cheers,Greg.
  7. @Kon, I made a call to PIRSA regarding the nature of the alleged offence about an hour ago. Spoke to an officer that was not familliar with the case so i've left my # for Troy Harris (fisheries officer and regular PIRSA contributor on S&H) to call back.
  8. PVC Coated monofilament. Nothing new.In the absence of evidence to the contrary, can't see an issue.
  9. Agree entirely keenfisho' date=' That's why we need to be sure the story on AN matches the pic[/quote']Firstly, nice work Kingsley. Thankyou.Purnong, that for me is the core issue here. Sadly i have no faith in AN/The Advertiser and they have previous form here.I don't know if the guy in the AN pic was doing the right thing or not but with unseen forces working against rec fishing we should be a vigilant as possible.
  10. My call was returned and i will make contact with the reporter of the story to ask some simple questions and to see if i can obtain the full pic as submitted.Cheers,Greg.
  11. I found Peter from PIRSA to be quite fair with rec fishers re itterating that the vast majority do the right thing even when an emotioal "Clive" called in.Gary Flack spoke sense as always and the other callers said pretty much what we all feel about it ie the sharks are already there. Sonya asked "Trevor from Magill" if fishing should be banned from beaches (not just shark fishing) and he replied "what gives swimmers greater rights than fishers?"
  12. Call made to AN, awaiting return call.Holy smokes, they've just ammended it again after i raised with a subordinate.
  13. Hello kon, always on the same wave length , anyway my thoughts exactly. Questions to be asked.I may just make that phone call.
  14. I had my doubts too, here's why. The pic source is credited as AN not the gentleman named? Strange. A quick phone call to the SLSC in question could clear up a few things if one was so inclined.
  15. An astute observation by an AN reader in the comments.Rabbit Posted at 11:22 PM October 31, 2012 "There are 290000 registered dogs in SA (dog and Cat Management board figures). Presuming the dog attacks were all by different registered dogs, the attack rate is 0.0007%. Imagine the rate if there is 50 or 60000 unregistered dogs (there is 10000 in Playford apparently). Sounds like the Vet association want to make more money from the puppy schools they run by bringing fear into the equation."

  17. Yes, works well for me.
  18. I reckn there's a place arund Victor Harbour or Goolwa that does.
  19. I agree, keeping a diary is very beneficial but i now no longer bother. Reason? As moggy23 and kingsley stated more outings in favourable conditions (Suprise, suprise) so when all the other factors are not in alignment i still get the boat out and fish, even for donuts, just for the love of being out on the water and company of friends and family. Basically i no longer take it so seriously.
  20. Have read many threads here where the guys still use, love and swear by them matched to their Snyders.
