  1. have I touched a nerve or said something offensive?????
  2. hey all,Fished the onk the other morning and it seems the bream are on the chew again, yay! Another thing i did notice was that the little ones are back, squillions in the 3-5 inch range.I remember them being in the system much earlier in the year last year, around late sept early november and i started to wonder whether the flush out from mt bold may have delayed or affected the breeding season? What ya think? If so could this be taken into account when the ban in old noarlunga is lifted?Dont wanna be a party pooper but i want to fish the river for many years to come, and continue to catch fis
  3. hey guysi have been for about 6 months now, trying to be as detailed as possible and am hoping it pays off when i grow up( if i do )was wondering if anyone knew of any weather archives as i have been taking pics for a long time and was hoping to do a heap of backdating and expand it based on the past sessions. hoping to get hold of synoptic chart archivescheerskeen
  4. completely agree with what ya's are saying about the drum lines and shark nets. i'd be willing to sacrifice a dozen humans a year to see the back of such so called 'protection' measures and as mentioned the efficiency of these measures is questionable.on another note, does the bitten shark pic look a bit dodgy, even photoshoppy, to anyone else?always Keen

  7. hey alllike the majority of those of us on this site, I understand our fishing needs to be sustainable if we are to fish for the long term and those who know me know that I am passionate about fishing with preservation in mind. i am as shocked as the rest of you and by no means are advocating these sneaky underhanded changes but this topic has raised a few questions in my own mind tho and i shall endeavor to put them to you.did they have a dollar figure in mind when they introduced the licenses in the first place, have fallen short of that target and need to skim more to cover their losses?why
  8. I don't care what it costs me but the next pair of waders i buy will keep me dry and warm no matter what as well as last a minimum 4 salmon seasons. i was sold a 70 dollar pair of shakespeare waders barely 6 months ago and i am less than impressed at the fact they no longer keep me dry. they have de-laminated around the top of the boot, knees and crotch. ya also have to wear something under them to stop the top of the boot wearing a hole in your calves.Do 'neoprene'(wetsuit type) waders keep you dry? and can you get them with a solid? boot coz i did like the boot and sole of the cheapies.i thi
  9. hey there Pete,I too am a novice to the sport of light gear bream fishing and also came from a surf fishing background.i am completely addicted. i fish at least twice a week in the onkaparinga river and have been doing quite well(scored a pb of 38.5cm two weeks ago).september last year i purchased a couple of hardbodies on a whim, got a few medium bream, was happy, about two weeks later i did battle with a 60cm mully and have been unable to concentrate without a rod in my hand ever since. this was with a $30 jarvis walker combo, 6lb mono, not even a leader, so please i am/was the ultimate novi
  10. you guys on this site are awesomesome fantastic tips that will definately get tried within the week, also food for thought too!have wanted to try the poppers for a while now but not had the opportunity until this weekendand i am gonna do some serious experimentingi also have a feeling that using plasties on a bottom rig may cut out some of the frustration caused by crabs too, one can hope anyway ;Dcheers heaps for the replies and may good fishing come your wayalways Keen
  11. hi guys,i am loving fishin with SP's at the moment and with winter approaching i am very keen to try for some sambos with the light gear and SP's.i fish waitpinga regularly with both baits and shineys but have never tried plastics.the main issue i foresee is that at waits the wind is usually in your face hence casting distance may/will be a problem.any hints on plastic types or sizes as well as jighead info will be tried and greatly appreciated.always Keen
  12. yeah i hope to get a 40 out of the onk soon as well as a legal mullie. the darkness of the bream is partly due to incorrect fone settings and overall crappy cameramanship. here is another viewalways Keen http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/IZB8wpX6__500.jpg[/img]
  13. thats so hillariously funny it made me laugh so hard i woke up the kidalways Keen
  14. spare of the moment early mornin session on saturday saw me pull in this 38.5cm personal best bream from the onk on sp's(got better elsewhere but best from onk) within 20 mins of first cast. me and my bro hit the onk that night and got some very nice fish also, will post pics when i get them. will get the magical 40 out of the onk this winter!always Keen (and very happy too) http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/7GABuDkH__resized_500.jpg[/img]
  15. My fishin hat, a camo sloppy joe type thing, only ever gets washed in the ocean, usually about 3 or 4 times a year. And only in the clean southern waters to not the yucky metro waters, last time i did it at west beach it smelled worse than it did before. never again! always Keen
  16. coz if i think there may be a fish in it i will throw i line in it! i have gone without food, sleep, sex and work to go fishing. i have frequently walked for 3 hours to get to that secret spot. i dream of fishing. i cant sleep for three nights before a trip (and i really cant sleep, 1-2 hours tops which can be dangerous). when all my fellow fishos have gone home i remain going 'just 1 more cast, just one more cast. i am only just getting a foot in the scene but i have not yet meet anyone as keen as i am!
  17. a legal mullie from the Onka on SP's. a week ago i had hook straightened on jig(must have been old jighead) also got busted off by something real big so i am close to that goal. after that all i want is a 4x4 and i know the fish i want will follow :icon_e_biggrin:
  18. Correct me if I am wrong but i think i saw you there, jared road car park, sunday morning, 8.30ish and you were just packin up and a little red car stopped for a quick hello?the young lad I saw was absolutely over the moon with where he was and what he had caught, a very happy chappy indeed.A big kudos to you for spending your time to give what all boys need.
  19. AS a kid i remember my dad and I climbing down to the southern side of gull rock(end of maslins). In a little bay there he used to get some good catches of flatties as well as some huge sweep. come to think of it I might give that spot a crack, if ya can still get there unlike pelican point
  20. I did lose a rod in a local lake once, there one second, a patch of bubbles in the water the next. Was a crappy rod but it was my brothers so had to try something. Snapped on a sinker and 4/0 hook and started casting, 10 mins later had the line, 2 mins later had the rod in my hand and in another 5 had the 12 lb carp that decided the rod needed a wash!
  21. maybe we could hold a mankini fishing comp at waitpinga? you kno, just for a laugh or calendar or something
  22. Hi all,The Onka is a fragile environment with an enormous amount of pressure, both environmental as well as fishing pressure, being placed upon it. I have been fishing it with lures consistently for the last 4-5 months and have been having a blast catching mullies and bream and meeting some great fellow fishos on my travels, not to mention it can be an extremely beautiful and serene place to be.One thing has been bugging me for the last two months and that is cigarette butts(and yes I smoke). I understand that they are tiny and insignificant looking but the river and its banks are NOT the plac
  23. hi fellasis this restricted to the carp in the murray or have they tagged in other areas as well? mr K
