  1. Don't revive that debate again Chief
  2. I would be in, strike and hook should do bream tournaments aswell!!!
  3. Knowing west lakes I was most likely a red tin, disposed of by a pissed fisho!
  4. 9lb braid would do the job and more
  5. With plastics it's all about the action, incorporate as much flicking as your rod will allow!
  6. Mate i've done a bit or research and atm it is going for around $30-$70 for secondhand and probably more if it was in mint condition! So I would say that it was a fairly good reel when it came out.CH
  7. This time of year wallaroo jetty should be plentiful of chow, good hardy live bait and in my opinion fairly good to eat aswell
  8. Might be a bit small for your needshttp://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/products/Surecatch-Live-Bait-Bucket-Aerator-Combo.aspx?pid=125719&menuFrom=30603#tab-Reviews
  9. I've taken (and lost many) BIG carp on a rod with no drag whatsoever and they have some big power and some smarts, one bolted straight for a snag and pulled me into the knee deep backwater!

  11. This is disgraceful, WHAT IS A SHARK DOING IN WATER!
  12. I can't vouch for the sustain but i recently got the Symetre 2500 and it is the best reel ive ever used...p.s it can stop a big soapie in its tracks!
  13. I think as long as it isn't an inter-tidal zone you should be right. I've gone diving for razors and they are actually really good on the table
  14. I reckon well over a good surf rod's cast distance...Because if that bloke comes too close on purpose...You could bet where my next cast is directed (hint: I don't use barbless hooks)
  15. the old Shimano combo should do the trick they are really a great and reliable brand and as for line I suggest braid for all the multi purpose stuff but if you are off the rocks mono is the way to go!
  16. Bit too brown for a gurnard, I agree with Bent definitely a toad

  18. if carp and goldfish can hybridize, i wouldn't mind betting that a mahi mahi and another pelagic such as a tuna mated. apart from that i'm stumped!
  19. All in all there aren't really many crabs out in numbers at the moment. I would say that from Henley through to St Kilda and beyond are basically the most populated in terms of crab concentration. As for the Port River I wouldn't go past it but you would be one unlucky chappy to get your bait disturbed by a crab in the port river. All the best to your fishing endeavors.Tight LinesCH
  20. Hi all,Has anyone fished the new jetty recently. Are there any good catches of squid, tommies or gar coming or do the new pylons need some more time to get some growth. Any advice would be really appreciated.CheersCH
  21. Hi S&Her's,Just wondering whether anyone has used deep water jigging for snapper. I've seen the lucanus jigs and Shimano butterfly jigs. I really want to get a few before my new year trip to marion bay. Any help on weight for around 40-60m, technique and or style would be greatly appreciated. CheersCH
  22. I've got one around 12-13 ft. I don't really get much use out of it since my brother has a boat. But on dive trips down south near beachport cape jaffa area i'll bring it and find a decent surf beach. Usually can get out the back of a beach current with a heavy sinker and pilly cube. Can manage a few salmon.
