  1. Got yourself a strongie and a rockie, as W2BF said i would rather eat carp stew...
  2. I just wanted to add this awesome photo of my little rig after a good day's cray diving! She may not be one of these new hunks of aluminium, but she's built as strong as anything...She may not be new but for a 60-70 year old she is one in a million. The 40 year old motor doesn't want to give in yet, its just a testament to a well maintained rig, you take care of her and she'll keep on going... Someones love affair with their boat is unmeasurable, even if you need to put your dive mask back on when the wind picks up!
  3. Just as a little probe, who would be interested in this for the coming season?
  4. Ahhh the Port River Cutting, you could get anything like ST's, mullet, tommies, breambos and if your lucky some flathead. Definitely want a high, you want to fish it whilst it's running around the bottlenecks as this is where fish will lie in wait for a feed to come by.
  5. Marion Bay for a couple of weeks hitting wedge, althorpes and such diving for crays and abs and hopefully the tuna are still lurkin!
  6. see ya at haven pommy, still tossing up saturday or sunday!?
  7. thats that eastern states version, i was always told about the big ol' GW that lives around the end of OH called Freddy...
  8. Looking a bit better at the moment, Get going big fella!
  9. Some might have seen this on the fishing facebook groups but a large seal has been attached by a and has washed up right next to the jetty, it is still alive and being cared for by some greenies and a ranger as far as I understand.Fellow sharkers prepare your lines, it's gonna be a good season. But this was probably the work of Freddy the GW and I wouldn't wish to be within a 10km radius of him.CH
  10. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you are catching fish with the rods you have now why change? I know it's all part of the ever changing dynamic of the entire sport but if you see some of these older blokes on jetties pulling in fish after fish you might be swayed to this conservative thinking. I would much rather take info from the past generation of fishos than taking it from paul bloody worsteling. Hey these telescopic rods might be the future, but until there is sufficient evidence to support them, I will stick with my 6'6' graphite.
  11. Seals are bloody fun to swim with. We rafted up our boats at althorpes a couple summers ago to cook up some fresh caught cray and other random fish found around the area. Anyway they were playing around at the back of our boat so a few of us jumped in and they were really playful, swim around come up, swim around then sometimes they would swim belly up in front of us and we would rub their belly. It was a real great experience. Probably not a smart thing to do about 100m from Shark alley but I've dived through it, still here, but it was really dark and creepy in there. As for sharking this sum
  12. I find that the short rod length gives the angler far more control when using lures and such. But as for the split grip, when I am bait fishing I like to keep a hand behind the reel and one thumbing the line so I reckon it's just a cosmetic thing... my 2c worth anyway!
  13. one of the best eating fish going around!
  14. This thread has gone a bit quiet of late so I might just chuck up a little report from yesterday. On monday I armed to savage 4m with all the correct equipment to have a good day out on whatever happens to appear. Without a gps or sounder it is good ol' fishin' at its best. So tuesday morning comes, 0530 hours, screw that I 'm going back to sleep. 0700 hours, that a bit better. Anyway crab bait in and off we go to Nth Haven. And as you would expect with a 40 yo motor it got going, someone forgot to put the choke back in :silly: ...woops...flooded motor. Well 15min later and 2 very sore blister
  15. All we do is shell em, clean em up and either crumb and fry or bbq right there on the boat with some soy sauce!
  16. go on Youtube, find your required song, copy the URL, go here http://www.youtube-mp3.org/Paste the URL where it is obvious. click convert aaaaand then click the download. Should appear in your downloads folder!
  17. Heard the bake-fish are common, also the blazed snapper, watch out for smokin sharks coz they will turn your catch into half-baked fish. They have some nice smokers over there so another great method for preparing your fish!
  18. Few weeks ago when we had those horrendous winds, headed down to Parsons, the sand was picking up in your face but 2nd cast into a nice sambo, few more for the day in the heavy onshore winds and rain bucketing down! gotta love fishing those condiditons!
  19. If thats the case mate i'd suggest heading out to the john robb or the norma, just convinient. If you need the gps marks give us a pm.
