  7. River cottage rocks if we could we would live like Hugh in a heartbeat. We grow as much fruit and veg as we can most of my front yard is dedicated to veg growing with the back yard currently under conversion. We also have 4 very much free range chooks which will have there range cut down a bit with the veggie patches going in out the back . Fresh eggs from your own chooks are so much nicer than any shop bought egg. We try and have one main meal a week that has no meat even if it's veggie burgers. Our main reason for the lifestyle change is you don't know what your getting from the shop half

  9. G'day alexcarn, Qu1. I use Gink (floatant) and I also use Rio Dry X fly drying shake to remove any moisture from my fly/s before i apply floatant.Qu2. Tippet is attached to the end of your tapered leader, Tippet length can vary from a couple of feet up to several metres depending on where your fishing and how pressured the fish are. For Dry fly in a open area I normally fish a (5ft floating poly leader we wont go there yet) 9ft tapered leader followed by about 6 ft of tippet. Don't go to long if your just starting out as the tippet and fly wont roll out for you and will end in big mess. I'd p

  13. Nice fish Fishigan. These fish go a dark colour in spawning season. The fish also vary in colour from lake to lake dependant on water clarity and quality. I've even noticed a diffeance from river to river creek to creek. I have attahced two other browns I caught on the same day one from the lake and one from the river.

  16. I got a head like a robbers dog, don't wanna scare people away from the site . Nah you get burnt pretty quick up in the mountains and we have been fishing pretty hard lately and on top of that, I don't like getting sunscreen grease on my line and flies etc. I've had six weeks off and the old sun spots are starting to get bad on the back of the hands :S. I quiet word of warning for you young blokes and something I've finally drilled into my young bloke cover up.I've seen spawning pairs of browns upto 4-5 Ib in the upper reaches of this creek and I've heard rumors of fish upto 8Ib.The Canberr

    Been a while

Right there with you fish nuts I nearly :c my pants when I reached for my rod, a mate of mine and his 8 year old came across a tiger snake last week right on the edge of the lake. Some of the creeks are real twiggy  I have a 6 foot 3 wieght which is an awesome little rod for the tiny tight creeks and you really know about it when you hook a good fish. Can't wait to get back up to the lake after x-mas .

    Been a while

It's been a while . I haven't posted anything for a little while so I figure I should pull the thumb out and put some pics up from the last month or so. I have been fishing some of the local creeks as well as hitting Lake Eucumbene which has been going off of late and is now over 50% :cheer: . Enjoy the pics sorry about the quality of some as they where taken on the phone cam. See if you can spot the Copper Head snake near my rods :S :c
  22. I agree with fishnuts buy the best outfit you can afford. Maybe even ask your local shop to rig up some differant priced rods with some lines and have a feel.
