  5. Well another Saturday and another strong wind from the south or south west.Anyway I head down to one of my favourite beaches at West Lakes .Parked the car and headed to the start of the beach. And first cast POP a tiny bream was jumping at my fly. This happened a couple of times and then nothing .So by this time I had waded back to my car.And I thought a quick change of fly ,as the one I was using had never produced a fish .So on with another popper and I'm off.The wind wasn't the hassle I had thought. It created water movement .The biggest hassle was the ARMADA OF SKULL BOATS that were training

  10. Well it is my BIRTHDAY today. And I organised to have today off as leave.I did neglect to tell anyone in my family Wife almost had a heart attack when I was till home at 6.20 this morning.Anyway slipped down to the same two beaches as Saturday morning.I missed Sunday even this nut-case SWFF thought the wind was to strong !!!.So today with a smaller choppy surface I thought it would be good as well.Half way along the first beach I managed to drop a tiddler, not much was showing any interest in surface feeding. Then casting out halfway between the deeper water and shallower weed beds.I started g

  13. Well driving to the lake this morning .I was trying to work out the wind direction.Ended up heading to one of my favourite spots.Waded out to calf deep water and thinking the wind was at my back I cast my surface popping fly .In truth the wind was blowing very strongly over my left shoulder and forcing my fly very close to shore.Any way compensating for this while not easy could be done. And I was on my way .Sixth cast in and I wish I had brought some bread crumbs .This little bream was just hooked through the lip .Rather embarrassed at this fish but meh I took its picture on the lid of the con

  20. Well normally I sit at my keyboard and try to wax-lyrical .Not going to today. It was hard or has been hard the last few weeks and was still the same this morning .And I had this little voice in my head this morning .It told me to look for a fly I tied last year and never used .There was something about it that made me never choose it .Well it got jumps galore this morning .And there were times that 3 fish would jump one after the other at it and of course just the odd jump.I did have a tiny fish tail spit it.But in one group of three fish this is what took it.Picture does it an injustice its a
  21. Not something I wantg to try HighFly .No problem with u using scent if it works why not.Have you thought of bouncing a fly along the surface when you have the shark in your burley trail .Just a thought may appear like a wounded fish on the surface. But they have two many sharp teeth for me
  22. Actually if you find any large pools that have very little movement in them leading up to is it holbrooks or hardys rd you should find some carpOr at least you used to
  23. Hi BraydenNever landed a mullie on a fly .But hooked a few over the last few years.Always they were feeding on baitfish .First 3 or 4 nailed a baitfish imitation fly or if u like my version of a surf candy fly. They all broke me off !!Last one slightly different was using a variation of Morises whiting popper (he's caught Barra on them).Wasn't a huge fish but stripped line and spat the fly .Once again it was feeding on baitfish. The first fly I was fishing for bream so fished the fly like that, cast let it sink two strips and repeat .And they struckThe popper I had to keep moving or rather I mov
