'snapper at tapleys' Good fish Young fella

I seriously need to get out fishing. My daughter came up just now and asked 'what are you doing?' On reflection I realized I was sitting at the computer on strike & hook desperately searching for inspiration in the pages of the forum, at the same time I realize I'm holding my favorite and newly spooled whiting rig in my left hand. how long it was there who knows? Sad but funny.

G'day rocknev have you got a pic? I'd be interested to see one. I've made some out of stainless strap with a couple of folds (my mates idea) he catches salmon all the time with them.

Thanks everyone. afishyfish, I've aged since then and could get away with being Malcom Douglas's dad :cheer: It's a bit hard to tell in the photos but the red and black lure and the gold lure have something in common, and they are one of my innovations. see if you can work out what the similarity is, I,ll put the answer at the bottom. The similarity is they are both the same lure. painted gold on one side and red and black on the other. My idea is if I trawl up stream past a snag it presents gold, and if the fish doesn't feel like gold then when I go down stream past the same fish , the re

Inspired to show my lures after seeing the lure post from jmw. These are some of my lures I designed and made a few years back for a trip up to the top end. I was wrapped with the results, the best lure would be the blue and it dives to 9 -12 ft most of them catch fish though. The bigger barra was Adelaide river on blueThe other barra was shady camp on green/yellowThe rat king was south australia on the blueThese are only some of the hook upscheers osd

Hi Rodstar It went 44lb but it was a bit disappointing though as it was full of flesh worms,I also found some in a huge whiting I caught the other day.

G'day C M I got my story published a few years ago in SA angler, my advice would be try for a story line with a different angle, something that hasn't been done to death. Some of the other ideas put forward by other members are also useful, photo quality, high resolution with min 8 megapixel, or a bit less with a good SLR digital etc. Good luck Bill

Thanks for the point peelipeeli. I put mine in a sandwich bag, not too many tangles.cheers Bill

Thanks Ospray for the good karma, glad you thought it useful.Bill

G'day Here's a handy hint of mine. I use this to keep my whiting traces free from tangles. All you need are some flexible straws. 1: Tie your size 8 (or preferred size) long shank hook to your line.2: Cut your line to your required length ( I cut it about 200mm longer than the straw)3: Push the line through the straw then tie a loop on the end.4: Then bend the straw and hook the hook into the plastic for safe storage. Hope you like my idea Bill http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/U4KnlzO1__the_trace_tidy.jpg[/img]
