  1. Never caught them before.....just a matter of digging and pulling them out? Surely it can't be that easy, nothing fishing normally is!
  2. Walked out to 2nd marker about 630am, passed a couple of guys who were there real early. Knocked off about 11 and saw quite a few on the way back, had a quick chat but not sure which ones you were? If you did see me I was the guy pouring with sweat in a jacket. Picked up a couple of decent size ST's but was really quiet even with a decent burley trail going. Not sure it was worth the rock hopping effort, not the best tide movement though.
  3. Were you at the breakwater, about 1/3 way down?
  4. Tried the squidgy 70mm pro flick bait Slimey (greenish coloured one) the other day for ST and worked well. Tried a chrome twisty and piece of pilchard but all my catches were on the squidgy....and I'm normally skeptical about the SP thing lol. Used a size 4 hook with a small bit of weight in it. Ok to cast out in calm to mild conditions but not much in terms of distance which isn't a big deal I guess for ST but can be testing at times.
  5. haha, must of had clam on the mind......
  6. Cheers mate, need somewhere easy to take my daughter and keep her interested, otherwise it's off chasing pelicans.
  7. Nice catches. Jeez you make me jealous! BTW, where is good around outer harbour? Never actually been there myself and wouldn't know what is where!
  8. Just wondering what other do when it comes to preparing for cooking?? These days I tend to keep my (cleaned) fish whole and cook it, allowing me to pick away and get the most out of it. Fillets are great for battering etc but it seems as though there's always going to be a bit of wastage no matter how good the technique. I also find cooking whole leaves me with a softer, juicier flesh.

Am I the only weird one for eating them raw, just washed out in sea water?
  10. Don't forget the garlic Ale, nothing like stinking out the classroom.....and those rotten salami farts hahaha
  11. @khombi - Land them and release them, they seem to be quite an inquisitive 'fish', seems wrong to kill one but that's just me.
  12. For rays off the beach I've found Tennyson is pretty good just before/at sunrise, they seem to hunt the smaller fish in the shallows and often will come up nice and close to see whether your feet are worth a feed. Just a basic running rig with a second hook not tied (not sure what it's called), 5/0 with a pilchard. 30lb with 40lb fluoro leader on a 6000 sized reel. I don't have a heap of experience with this though, just what I've found works by accident.
  13. I must have missed the tin foil hat giveaway on signing up.
  14. According to the write up, 'has enough butt power' too. Obviously good from both ends.....
  15. Jeez that does look porky lol. Nice catch.BTW, what is the beach like down there? Only been past quickly, looks like a nice quiet spot.
  16. I'd like to know if anyone has luck with those as well esp for YFW. Bought some last year and didn't get one taste on it, I've had more luck with cockles when I've run out of worms!
