Astroman 0
Hi guys,Got myself a Ugly Stik rod thats rated to 3-5kg, whats a good replacement reel for the one that came with it? The one on it now is a Shakspeare Predator 3000. It's a good reel, but is there better?
Keen as 0
you're choice is endless(almost)but is certainly dictated by price, best to talk to you're friendly tackle store salesman and he,ll ask the nessary questions. Astroman
Ale 301
If its a overhead, a trusty abu 6500 is a perfect match. I have such a setup with 20lb fins, good enough for me. I reckon there is a reel on here for $100, spoiled and never used
rotor138 0
Mine has a Shimano Sienna 4000 on it. Is my new favourite Yellowfin rod, have retired the $10 Rex Hunt rods to the shed. Not that there was anything wrong with them.
Astroman 0
ale: Yes I should have mentioned it's a spin rod. Thanks rotor138: I will look into that reel, thanks.
Juninho 0
Okuma trio reels, look good and feels awesome too, have the trio 30s myself and have been able to handle lots of different species. Off eBay around the 80 mark from us but think tackleworld has them now too not sure of price
aldingabeachfisho 1
how longs a piece of string lol. All depends on what your budget is and what type of fishing you are doing with the rod. options are almost endless.

Jack. 10
I'd go get a 2500 reel if it's the rod I think. 2-5kg pretty light and soft tipped. Shimano Sienna, Sedona (that I own in this size) or a symetre. Those reels are in order from cheapest to dearest, but all under 140 I would think, oughtta get a Sienna for around $50-$60 bucks and they are all good value and last if you look after em and give em a fresh water rinse after every use Be a good little baitfishing combo with like 6lb mainline and a running rig. My dad uses a similar rod for baitfishing bream and yellowfin and salmon trout etc. He hooked a baby bronzie on it out deep late last year and only lost it boatside lol. I love ugly stiks mate, good honest bait rod, that won't break
