ShoreJigger 171
Looking for a new reel for medium to heavy lure work.Mulloway, Snapper, Salmon, Rat kings etc.Basically I've narrowed my choices down to these two.Positives of the Daiwa: Round Eva knob (I prefer these over the stradics egg), 2 spools.Positives of Shimano: Longevity (or so I've heard) over the Daiwas.I've searched for days about replacement knobs for the Stradic but haven't come up with a definite answer. All I've found out is they may be the same as a jap 11 Biomaster and use a Shimano type B knob.Anybody had experience with both these reels? If not some insight into why you chose one over the other?
wishing2Bfishing 0
i havent used either but if they are the same price then i personally go for shimano. im biased to shimano though. the extra spool on the daiwa would be handy though...

Ronnie 0
Def the luvias, my friend just bought a 2500 da custom and it feels amazing. We both preferred the feel of the luvias over the FJ ShoreJigger
Bigmac54 0
Ive got a lot of shimano gear and can't fault it. If it were me, that's what I'd get
Piranha 76
I have a 5000 stradic fj nice reel but I would swap it for a luvias in a heart beat ;)From memory the 5000 stradics can come with a choice of 2 different handles, the large round knob and the flat handle! ShoreJigger 171
Go the luvius mate ' date=' fantastic reel! super smooth and very light!. Caught heaps of big sambos, snapper... Perfect reel for what you have described...[/quote']How long have you had yours for mate?I've heard the Daiwas are smoother than the Shimanos out the box but after a while they start to become less smooth and Shimanos seem to have a longer lifespan. talbo 0
Definitely go the Daiwa. I have a DA Custom 2500R and a Fuego 3000A (same as DA Custom 3000) and they're great reels. Light, powerful, smooth drag and spare spool. $299 at R & A's = Bargain! ShoreJigger
