  1. I wouldn't be locking myself into any one technique. Try shorter pauses and longer rips on the blades too. In my experience they work both ways and the same can be applied to fishing plastics and hard bodies. Sometimes the lure needs to be worked faster to impart any action on it and make it look as though it's real. Alot of vibrating action or movement in general can induce the re-action bites you want and I think that sometimes going too slow will only make them think twice about whether or not they want to eat your lure. Of course slow with lots of pauses will work also but mix it up to fin
  2. Heh... Figures. R&A's have something against Shimano themselves too. Never can I shop there without having someone there tell me how bad Shimano is and how much better Daiwa is.I'm in there quite often and have never experienced this. Strange....
  3. Try Gulp 2" Shrimp in Peppered Prawn and Ecogear Bream Prawn in Olive colour. For lures try Jackall Chubbies, Ecogear SX40's and Daiwa Double Clutches.
  4. From my experience what works in one system won't necessarily work in another. Eg. Ecogear SX40 in colours 351/2 work very well in the Pat and sometimes in the Port but don't even get looked at in West Lakes.
  5. 8lb Sunline Super PE and either Sunline FC Rock or V Hard 3-5lb FC leader
  6. I haven't used them so I can't comment from experience but I'm pretty sure Shane Mensforth from SA Angler has been using/testing these lately and likes them.
  7. I agree with Brenton, FG is easily the strongest in my experience. Little difficult to tie on light lines but with some practise you'll be fine.In the mean time, the improved albright is very very simple to tie and shouldn't break whilst casting. On light 4lb leader I will run 10 wraps of braid over leader (in direction of leader) then 8 wraps back over the top of the first 10 wraps (in the direction of braid). Do this as neatly as you can, then wet and gently pull up tight ensuring there are no loops by pulling up on braid tag end and braid main line. I've never had this knot fail but still p
  8. Their good but having to superglue them onto hooks so your not constantly getting your pants pulled down is a pain I use the HWS jigheads and haven't had to glue any.
  9. Brighton is usually pretty reliable for squid. Add a dodge tide and should make for great squid fishing
  10. Good advice already given, I'd go a minimum of 7' rod for casting lures that light as I'll assume your land based.
  11. 2 of the best available imo.Shimano Sephia 'white ghost' is also brilliant.http://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/products/shimano-sephia-egixile-squid-jig.htmlColour 14T in above link. There's lots of colours and brands that do the job on different days in different conditions but those 3 always stay in my tackle box
