southie THE BANGA 2,304
Yep many a times off Ardrossan jetty.. i prefer other bait before tommy but still have caught a few fish on them.. Both live and as a fillet.
fished out 0
^ So true, My first time on Ards a HUGE school of mulloway swam under for a good 20-30 minutes. I jigged all kinds of soft plastics, Halco Twisties and woblers in the middle of the school for nothing. The 1 bloke who had been there earlier had a few tommies still live in his bucket. Bang, Bang, Bang 3 Mulloway in a few minutes on the opposite side of the jetty to me.
Lofty 27
Not a great bait in my opinion, although I have caught a couple of fish on them I find I'm far more successfull on other baits. They always seem to attract the wrong fish and in my case it's usually stingrays. I might add I'm beach fishing in the south east it could be different in other locations. reelin 2
Have to say my Pb Onk mulloway a big fat 12kg engulfed my live Tommie and many of the other mullies I have caught have been on live and dead tommies albeit these ranged from 56 to 88cm
reelin 2
In saying that! if you are using tommies where there are tommies around you will catch something as you are really trying to mimic/ provide the fish with what they are eating at the time
Mr_Willy 3
Yep - on a very ordinary one - was in our bait bag for three days at Yalata...
bent87 0
Nothing beats a fresh tommy fillet 'sandwich' bait for snapper in my opinion. I reckon it's a solid mulloway livie, almost up there with salmon trout, mullet and gar.
clark 57
i have caught plenty of mully's on tommies in the port but only live baiting they seem to be one of the tuffest fish for live bait along with salmon trout which I have also caught plenty of fish on believe it or not even a live shitty will work well on mully's in the port
