Kaye 4
Cleaning out my dad’s items and he lived in Lakes Entrance, Victoria. I’ve been reading about Cliff Martin and seem to remember Dad had a fishing mate called Cliff. I’m pretty sure therefore this would be one of his reels. Does anyone have any idea what a wooden seamartin rell would sell for. Thanks in advance for any advice Meppstas
Kelvin 2,200
Several Hundred to over $1000+ depending on condition. Is yours working? There is one on facebook asking for $1000 at the moment.
Kelvin 2,200
Seamartin Wood reel Page 10 | Vintage old collectable fishing reels (reelmanaustralia.com) Looking at the darker foot and oscillator guide made of teflon, I would guess you have a Model 4,
dmck 628
Shame to show it off on a 'modern' rod.... I have my old reels mounted on cane and split-cane rods...... dont have a Seamartin, regretfully...

Kaye 4
Thanks everyone for the response - yes it is in working order. Lucky we didn't sell it for $50 as we were originally going to. Where would be the best place to sell this? Ebay or Facebook do you think? Meppstas
Des 818
I loved my old Seamartin Mark 2. My go to reel for the surf in the late 70s. It got nicked along with my fishing back pack from a jetty when I left it for a few minutes. Meppstas

I would take it to an auctioneer for evaluation first and see if they're interested in putting it up for auction, if not Ebay, Gumtree would be best.. not keen on using Facebook at all. cheers Adrian
Kaye 4
Thanks all for the help. Have decided that it is something we really cannot part with now and will keep as part of history. Will print off the writeup about Seamartin for the kids and grandkids. Hopefully they will appreciate it one day. As you say - part of history Des and Kelvin
