pescados 1
You can laugh Sandy but at least the line should be reasonably tight on the reel !
freddyboy 5
if he would have taken the handle off the reel and hooked the drill to it he wouldent of had to wind,, drill would have done that for him ,,,cheers freddyboy

chuckemback 0
well im lost! again  nuthing new 4 me , but i have used a drill to take line off my reel but never to put it onn .... whats the idea behind that ?? i just use a screwdriver to put a soaking wet spool of line onn. vb4me 1
Keeps plenty of tension on the line while putting it on mate
chuckemback 0
Hmmmm dont think i would try it in case the line gets wrapped round the drill . could be lookin 4 trouble!! i have no levelwind on any of my reels either and often take breaks lol another thing that comes to mind is if you pack it on real tight ,and if u somehow cast far or a fish takes a lot of line off and you dont wind it back on as tight , you can then have too much line and the line hits the bars and then u have to stop reeling.cheers and tight lines

vb4me 1
Might have been painful if I didnt have level wind Dont think the resistance of a cordless drill would make the line 2 tight. Its the second time ive done it and it seems to work ok, but can see why you might be apprehensive to try this method. Just wait till I get that second cordless and try freddy's suggestion
freddyboy 5
i was just kidding ,, but i do mine in a vice with a bolt and a couple of washers and two nuts that way i can lock the nuts on as tight as i want the tension to be to take line of the spool can can do this with almost any spool ,,cheers freddyboy PS invest in a vice rather then a cordless drill you might have better success
coight 0
not a bad idea. at least there would be an even tension throughout the whole spool.
MarsOne 137
The only time I've done it myself, I put it onto another reel, then used the drag to spool it onto what I wanted. Its a 2 man job but does the trick.I reckon the best is to get a tackle shop to do it when you buy it.
tythataussieguy 0
I have a small as hell apartment so all I do is put line in the kitchen sink, keep a bit of tension on it and then I just go on spooling it whilst drinking beer in front of the telly. The boss hates it though seeing she ends up taking herself out on it when she gets to to go to the loo lol. :woohoo:
