weaver 271 Posted October 31, 2010 Report Share Posted October 31, 2010 Have found green nippers on the flats near st kilda.At low tide just slosh around in the same spot stirring the bottom up till the water around you is mud.If there are any nippers around they will come to the surface where you can scoop them up with a mesh net. d_yem 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Blake 9 Posted October 31, 2010 Report Share Posted October 31, 2010 Hey, I've pumped them at Pt Hughes way if that helps- it's not exactly close but if you're going for YFW then that area is great anyway. Kingsley 19 Posted November 1, 2010 Report Share Posted November 1, 2010 just walk along the beach and look for the holes in the shallows. usually a dark mound. then pump in the general area, as said, if they are there they will come to the surface and you can scoop them up.watch out for their big claw, it does hurt ;)I've said this many times, you can pump them inside the o'sullies boat ramp too. but not sure if they are still there after the dredging that was done, but worth a look.nippers do not keep and go all mushy once dead, so its best to keep them alive in a bucket using a battery powered aerator from an aquarium shop.
