  1. Nicely done! Good to hear the worms are out and about even better that George paid a visit.

  3. Haha that would have been funny. Glad you caught a few fish
  4. METRO Crabs are still going OK around Semaphore and The Black Pole. Water temps have dropped markably meaning the whiting should now show up during the low and high periods. This is a great time of year when the weather is right where if it calm in the morning it would probably be calm all day. Some nice whiting have come from the Star Wreck, Cabbage Patch, Grange Tyre Reef, West Beach ground, South of Brighton and out from Stanvac. Crabs can still be caught from the Black Pole, Shipping Channel. Largs and Semaphore. Squid are in full swing out from West Beach, Semaphore, Largs, Black Pole and

  6. Good to hear there's lots of fishing going on even though the water is getting a little cooler.
  7. My plan is to head out local Sunday morning for some squid and see what else may be lurking around that may take some lures. It looks like this morning wouldn't have been bad, the rain seemed to hit during the night, no sign of rain or the wind picking up at all here.
  8. Who's getting out for a flick over the weekend and what are you planning on chasing? It looks like Sunday may be the better day weather wise with some rain forecast on Saturday morning. Also looks like winds will be picking up late morning on the Saturday. Get out there and have a crack I say and don't forget to write up a report.
  9. Thanks for the offer Flukey. I need to get my own anyway, I could use it for garden tidy ups often. Definitely on the lookout Panga. Will probably get one soon. I ended up just doing the softer fish with little to no bones and will save the larger frames, heads etc for when I get a mulcher.
  10. That is my ultimate goal Panga. I've been looking for a suitable mulcher recently. I thought I'd give an automatic mincer a go. Worked a treat until in my infinite wisdom I shoved a bunch of cockles through it. I killed it I managed a few bags of mainly squid and a little cockles.
  11. I've just emptied my freezer and am about to make up a batch of berley. I had a thought, probably impractical but I wouldn't mind trying it just for the hell of it... Has anyone tried making their own berley pellets? I found a video on Youtube of a bunch of what looked like villagers making berley pellets on a larger scale than I was planning but looked doable. I'm thinking bread/cereals, curry powder, old pillies, cockles all the usuals but something to thicken up the mix a bit? Then I'd have to dry the pellets.
  12. Metro Some nice squid have been coming from West Beach, Semaphore, Largs and east of the Black Pole. Whiting are being caught at Black Pole, Norma, Bower Road ground, Grange and bigger fish out from West Beach. Crabs are slowing but there is still a good feed to be had at the Silt grounds, Semaphore and Largs. Snapper are being caught around the shipping channel, near the John Robb, ballast ground, the Broadway and out from O'Sullivan's around the barge. Port river has plenty of salmon trout from the North Arm through to the St Kilda breakwater. Some nice bream are being caught near the North

  14. METRO Metro has really livened up in the last couple of weeks where the snapper have showed up in some of the regular spots like the Shipping Channel. Nice fish between 45-60cms have been caught mainly on the incoming tide. I tend to like the outgoing for bigger fish. Whiting are being caught from West Beach with good fish around the 38cm mark but also work the out skirts of the Grange Tyre Reef for the same type of fish. Legal whiting are also being caught just off the Norma, Silt Grounds and the Black Pole. Crabs are still doing well off Semaphore and Largs with some still being caught a
