  1. I, like a lot of others would love to see it open but imagine how quickly it will get smashed! Every keen fisho would be an idiot not to dive on the oportunity and the area will be reduced quite quickly. I'm sure it will produce for a while but slowly it will be degraded by careless fisherman polluting the area etc.I'd love to have a snorkel in the area though Would be a great jetty to look under!
  2. how big a shark are you thinking of dude? we're talking hundreds if not thousands of litres of water... you'd want to have a LOT of money to keep the tank going. Tank's gonna have to be huge...
  3. A couple of weeks back I ordered some books on carp and finally they have arrived. I wanted to see what these were like first before I bought any others on the topic and after a brief glance both of these books seem to be loaded with information! I understand that a lot of you look at carp fishing as a waste of time but like all fishing, I enjoy being outside and the challenge of locating and catching carp for me is always worthwhile. The River Torrens is accessible to almost everyone and on a nice day is quite a relaxing place to sit and drown some corn. When I am not fishing, I am either sor
  4. Hey Brett what is the damage for one of them? I'm buying one the second they come out here
  5. Are we far away from a new issue? I can't remember when the last one came out :(I need my fix!
  6. I've got the okuma one pictured. Was only $30 at the time if i remember correctly. Great rod holder but its full so i'll need another which i've already got enough rods to fill :)Well worth the coin!
  7. I just want to see the reels the new sustain looks INSANE
  8. I've got a couple of ci4's and cannot fault their performance. Bloody nice reel to use so i'm on the market for the two ci4's i don't have yet. Can't compare to the other reel as i haven't used it but from what i've heard they are both solid performers.Have landed several 7-9kg snapper on my ci4 2500 and the reel is still like new. May come down to a shimano/daiwa thing or the price (not sure on the daiwa) but the ci4 is about $260 at the moment.Good reviews both ends so best have a look in the shop
  9. I just buy the gents in bran and generally get about 2 months before they start to turn... Bloody handy!
  10. I've been pretty successful on blue pepper neon 5inch gulps with a 1/2 oz jig head. Quite reliable for me
  11. Not sure on how to suggest technique but the best advice I could offer would be to tie on a small sinker (I use a 5g with a swivel) and have a practice in your backyard or local oval. I find it a great way to adjust to how the combo wants to perform and while you are at it you can always put out a bucket and practice your aim for tricky casts and different distances :)With a bit of practice it will come to you fellaGood luckSquid
  12. let us know how it goes! I'm on the market for one at the moment. So bloody tired of freezer burn and losing fish in amongst the mess that is my freezer
  13. I've never bothered to fish off the platform to the left on camel... Will definitely give that spot a sniff when i'm there! Last time I was there in winter we hit KG's pretty hard but it kind of killed buger all time as the longest it took was 2 hours for a boat limit! Great fun though! Will be targetting a whole heap of tommies for the bait freezer whilst we're there as they were prolific last time :)Very keen to have a crack at the mullies on talia! Will hopefully belt out some livies if the water isn't too rough We're staying in Venus Bay at a shack we've stayed at before. Just a small cre
  14. I've landed 5 snapper over 90cm (ranging 7-9kg) on my little ci4 2500 with 8lb on a 2-4kg stick but for snapper that size it just took too long to bring the fish in. The reel holds about 260m of 8lb and I never got close to getting spooled but when the fish did finally come in they were totally knackered and were hard to release well. Haha I still have only ever managed 2 legal snapper under the 65cm mark but for pannies it is great! The hardest part once you'd tired the fish out was trying to lift them through the water without pulling drag...If you intend on keeping the fish I can't see any
  15. I've got the 315 seajigger matched with a ci4 4000 with 20lb braid. Nice and light in the hands and can cast a mile with it! Compared to what i was used to (a chunky 6000 on a 12ft uglystick) I can cast again and again all day :)Bloody great combo! Will eventually get the 305 for lobbing bigger slugsAs far as speed goes I wind at a medium speed and vary to high in the return and the 4000 seems to do the job without tiring me much.*Just wanted to add the ci4 4000 makes an insane snapper reel*
  16. As long as the pros are pillaging all of the cockles and selling them interstate as food then we'll be sweet paying top dollar here for them as bait ;)Clearly have thrashed one area so we can just "share" with them and they can empty the next before its closed off.Such a pity you have to think twice about buying cockles...
  17. I've decided put this topic here as i'm hoping it will get the most amount of traffic and responses :)So.... i'm off to Venus Bay in July and having done it successfully in the past will be hitting up KG's in the bay in my mates tinny and chasing salmon off talia and mt camel. Is there anything else worth fishing for in the area? Have only been there once in winter but didn't try to hit up anything else so don't really know what else is around :woohoo: Cheers for any inputSquid
  18. haha cheers man thats the exact rod i mentioned in my post was thinkin of that one! Really need to go have a feel of it in the shop
  19. I can't look at that link without joining up... worth doing?
  20. Great looking rod but at $450 thats $250 more than i'm willing to spend...
  21. I'm buying a ci4 1000 next week and have a spool of 5lb power pro to spool it with so I need a rod to match it to.The main setup I use is a ci4 2500 (8lb braid) with a 7ft 2-4kg rod so for a smaller reel and lighter line I figured the 1-3kg weight rod would be the go.I'm looking for something that is 7ft and 2 piece as it will be mainly used landbased flicking for bream, trout etc. It will be a multipurpose rod for bait (very occasionally) and lures (both SP and HB's). Price range is under $200Can anyone suggest a rod they've used and liked? I'm a bit worried about a rod this light being too w
  22. I usually use my small camelbak when going for a quick flick and a normal backpack for surf fishing etc. But recently I scored a shimano royale backpack which is bloody sweet! Has a spot to put the water bladder from my camelbak and has a raincover to put over the entire bag to keep out the rain when the weather is shitty. On top of this there is ample room inside for a heap of gear, lunch, bait etc.I learnt over a lot of painful walks up and down browns beach that you only pack the essentials! So a few small cases (i use 2 or 3 plano 3600's) with lures, swivels, sinkers and hooks. Essential g
  23. I've personally had more success with Gulps and prefer them over squidgies. Gulps leak all over the place and stink my tackleboxes and tacklebags and backpack if I happen to be using one so this is the only reason I use squidgies instead.I will be investing in the plano cases that are built specifcally for them but until then they are just too messy..Would love to get my hands on a bulk supply of sfactor though
