  1. I've got a big w just up the road from me (cross/goodwood)I'll have a look for you in the next day or two and let you know
  2. I've got a couple of raiders now that are great to use (as mentioned, around the $100 mark).Do you know what size you want? I'm a fan of 7 footers and 90% of the time i'd use a 2-4kg but 3-6kg is still great for flicking and handles snapper with more ease. Butt length is worth paying attention to as well as if it is too short it wont fit securely in a rod holder.I was hesitant to graphite a few years ago but couldn't be without it now. Amazing sensitivity! The best thing i could recommend is to take the reel into the shop so you can see how they pair upBest of luck mateEDIT: Just re-read the qu
  3. Great topics lads :)Awesome to see everyone being civil and no one attacking each other in 6 pages on a sensitive topic.Hopefully our fishery will be managed as best as it can be so we can continue to enjoy our sport and gather a feed for years to come
  4. I'd absolutely call it for a deformed southern calamary (sepioteuthis australis)
  5. Looks like a great idea big fella :)Love it!
  6. I've seen that photo around the place before. Still blows your mind looking at it again. That thing is a HORSE of a mully.Just look at the head! I reckon that bloke could fit his in its gob!
  7. i can't believe how polluted the water is in the first photo. not to mention someone payed thousands of dollars for the carcass...haha
  8. I'm on the market for one of those buff/head sock thingos. I hate sunblock so if i can cover up then i will :)I rarely get burnt on my legs but I really should invest in a long sleeved shirt for fishing. Last time i went out my arms got so toasted i couldn't go in the sun without unbearable pain :(I just can't handle greasy sunblock.
  9. Cheers for the suggestions lads. Might start planning up some sort of lightweight homejob solution :)But for the time being i'll stick to one rod! A lot more managable
  10. Hahaha "we had an understanding"What a stupid deluded old woman! She's got balls though!I'm sure the 'understanding' would have gone out the window if she'd slipped in
  11. Post number one and asking for gps marks... Good luck :)Ask in the general store, they always point you onto where the whiting are. Varies quite a bit
  12. I've had a few single circle gut hooks. Bloody annoying as i hate releasing fish when they are gut hooked
  13. I always rig with 2 snelled circles chasing snapper. Either hook can hook the fish and it is really rare to gut hook (although it does still happen)
  14. Yeah no worries fella,I'll hunt one down over the next few weeks (Just need to recover financially, haha oops)My dogfight has a metal one so i would assume the 4500 saltigas must have had one. I suppose it is cheaper but I like knowing you cannot break it no matter what! The new catalinas come out soon so there still should be parts around for a while
  15. I don't know actually. I've abused this thing and i haven't put a hole in it yet (touch wood). The handles are reinforced and it has a very sturdy rim.You could swing it around full of water all day and not break it :)Would be bloody handy if you were able to use it instead of a bucket on a boat
  16. So i bought one of the last cheap ones of these the other day and I love it but for one thing....The cap that goes opposite to the side you run the handle is plastic. Everything on this reel is built to last but this one bit Is this a part you could order? I'd assume it would be the same size as the saltiga 4500 one.. So I want the metal one that comes with that. Eventually i'll get a new knob for it too as i prefer the round ones.Anyone else got one of these reels?
  17. ha ha ha will keep her comfortable whilst she is holding my other fishing rod.Missus + Beanbag = Problem solved!
  18. haha with room for the sutbby holder on the outside. THAT i would love to see
  19. Just thought i'd throw this out there for anyone interested... I hate carrying buckets around so recently i 'converted' my camping folding kitchen sink to fishing So i'll never use it for washing again (was rarely used camping anyway)I bought it years ago and from what i remember it was pretty cheap. I've used it on a few trips now and it have proven to be very useful. Holds 10L of water and folds up small enough it fits in your pocket (packed size is about 4 inches x 3 inches). When full the water it is a bit over 4 inches deep but livies swim around quite happily as long as you don't overst
  20. haha i've seen spots where people have actually done that! As well as making flat spots to sit and fish with concrete.
