  1. Haha did anyone notice the "slip up" on page 92?I'm yet to meet a bloke who doesn't take the tags of his cap when he buys it... Unless he is just using the product for a photo ;)GREAT read this issue! Quite a few new topics covered which always keeps you keen
  2. i bought the 702 tcurve for this purpose the other week. Haven't taken it out yet but i love it
  3. Hahahaha I'M NOT DEAF!But back on topic, I really doubt there are that many people doing the wrong thing. Has anyone actually been caught recently? I reckon it is onlookers who disapprove and decide to spread the false information. This will always be a hot topic but at least the fisheries minister has it right Safe for now lads
  4. haha "dorsal fin"will the media ever get their facts right?
  5. How did you go with the new outfit mate?Any worthy fish yet?
  6. Cheers heaps lads :)I figure i'll start out with a tenon and a coping saw until funds allow me to upgrade!Certainly wont be afraid to shoot you a PM in the near future. I'm buying a dremel some time this week to make things a bit quicker in the shaping process so that should be fun next weekend.I figure i'll start with some poppers and stickbaits until i get the hang of things as these are the main lures i use. When i get my act together i will definitely be setting myself up with an airbrush so i can put decent finishes on the lures but I figure what is most important is getting the shape rig
  7. Finally got a couple of new books in the mail today • Making wooden fishing lures• What fish see: understanding optics and colour shifts for designing lures and fliesI’m still waiting on…• The Complete Book of Tackle MakingI have decided (much to the opposition of my missus) that I need to spend more time doing fishing related activities so I’m going to have a crack at designing and knocking up lures. As with everything I do some literature is always needed to get me started. I’ve had a quick read of both of these books and couldn’t rate t
  8. If anyone who had caught wind of the recent issues regarding Normanville and shark fishing wanted to look it up in google to find out more would come across this topic on strike hook...Type in "normanville shark fishing"Anyone with any interest in finding out more on the story (journo's for one) is led directly here and will use whatever information they want from what is said and twist it they way they wish. Reading through these 11 pages gives a very distinct mindset of the sharkers on this forum.
  9. Hahaha thought it would be good for a laugh :)The game is really addictive! Which is fantastic considering i haven't been fishing for a while :(UHF this is basically the newer version of that game (if you are talking about rapala pro fishing on ps2)This game offers a few new things but you still get to hoon around in a boat Even electric trolling motors are thrown in! As well as a huge selection of lures to choose from.Plus.... where else are you going to catch a metre long rainbow trout?
  10. So it has been a while since i've been "fishing" so i've been playing Rapala fishing frenzy!
  11. I've never done it so not the best person to answer this but i'll offer my 2 cents.I've read a lot of people use a cast iron pot and i'm on the lookout for one at the moment for the same purpose.Do you use a ladle to pour or are you using the pot (cleaner and easier to control the amount)? If it is setting as you are pouring maybe your mold isn't hot enough..Do you preheat the mold before you pour? (stops it from setting/cooling too much before you have finished pouring)Also do you remove any slag once the lead is melted in the pot? (gets rid of the stuff you don't want)Hopefully someone can h
  12. How limp is the braid? I run the same braid on a couple of reels and have had a little trouble as it is ridiculously limp. Certainly makes it easier to wrap around a guide when casting too...I have dramas with wind knots all the time. The biggest mistake i used to make was reeling in under uneven tension when working plastics. It may look like its going on the spool correctly but there can be loose bits every where! Then you try for a monster cast..... BLOODY WIND KNOTS!I honestly find stiffer (not really stiff) braids are harder to knot up like that.As Ranger said we all have a preferences so
  13. I figured that was the go with the rod I'm trying to stop myself from buying another outfitI really want the new sustain so i'm buying it when it comes out. I'm keen on running 6lb on an outfit so i figured the 1000 would be a better option. The 2500 sustain weighs 260g so a reasonable chunk more. There is always the option of buying a 1-3kg rod (which was my original plan) but i'm trying to save money Yeah the main reason is less line capacity but again i'm not sure if it is necessary. Think i'll just bite the bullet and buy another combo down the road Hahahaha any excuse!!!!I reckon i'll
  14. Yeah thats what i was sort of thinking but i don't know if the capacity is needed...I've always like to have the extra up my sleeve but after knocking over quite a few huge snapper with the 2500 on 8lb is it really needed?I'll fish exclusively on land with this combo so i don't think i'll ever hook anything big... Haha bet you i will though if i get the small one always the way!I love over thinking all my purchases
  15. I've just realised I should have titled this differently looking at everyones responses.Cheers to those that have suggested reels but what i should have made clearer is....What size reel should i put on this rod? Either 1000 or 2500 :)Just want opinions on what people think would balance better.Sorry for any confusion!
  16. Couldn't find any dude...As stupid as it may sound i prefer to buy new anywayGot me thinkin about a stella now.... $700.... hmmmm....
  17. Gday just looking for a few quick opinions.I've got a tcurve XL 702 2-5kg rod and I'm trying to work out what reel to put on it.At the moment I've got my ci4 2500 and it actually balances out quite well (the way i like it)I'm buying the new sustain when it comes out but I think i'd prefer to buy a 1000.Not having held the combo (will obviously have to wait until it comes out) i'm not sure whether the sustain 1000 will feel alright. The 1000 sustain weighs 200g as does my 2500 ci4 so i would have thought it should feel about the same.Has anyone else stuck a 1000 of any kind on this rod?I'll jus
  18. hahahahaha that would have looked hilarious! Cheers for the story fella
  19. Southie is on the ball. I'm going to spool this one up with as much 15lb as i can so wanted more capacity as the diameter of the 15lb is biger than the 8lb on the 2500.Will be chasing a lot of big snapper etc on this reel so i want the capacity if i hook a stoinker
  20. So I checked out the schematics on the Shimano website and turns out the part numbers are different on the drags and it clearly shows the difference between the spools. How on earth do you get one and does anyone know how much it's going to set me back? I wish i'd known before i bloody bought it!
  21. After reading everywhere the 3000 ci4 spool swaps straight over to the 2500 ci4 I went out and bought one.It fits just fine on the reel but the drag knob no longers fits....Upon closer inspection the spools look different. The 3000 spool isn't as wide as the 2500 spool through the centre. Hard to explain so i'll put up a photo. (Sorry about the photo but i'm using the missus's camera and i can't get it to work properly) Basically the drag knob is too big for the hole The 2500 is the spool on the leftSo do i need a new drag knob for the spool? Anyone else noticed this?
