  1. Sad to hear this. :( One of the first lessons that I learned as a junior in Western Districts Angling Club, back in the 1970s,was to sit and watch a rock fishing spot for at least 20 minutes before you decide to fish it and to NEVER turn your back on the ocean.A lesson that I have never forgotten.

  2. Get yourself a cast iron Japanese Hibachi grill, some charcoal(not heat beads),a decent cut of Porterhouse,Fillet or a nice T Bone and some salt and pepper.Dry marinate the steak by rubbing in a generous amount of salt and pepper on both sides and let it sit for an hour or two at room temperature. When the grill is nice and hot drop your steak on for 4 minutes.Turn for 4 minutes and it's ready. Some of my mates have got BBQs worth thousands of dollars and their steaks don't even come close. :) And don't get me started on Pizza ovens.

  3. I'll bet the fisherman that caught it doesn't get the $38,000. Apparently the bladder is the best bit.The guy that purchased the fish will make a profit too.W.T.F. :S It will probably be end up in a mixed grill with Tiger penis,Bear paws, powdered Rhino horn and Ocelot spleen, with a side dish of Iguana feet. Apparently it makes them more virile. :vomit: :vomit:

  4. I have used the Surgeons knot for years,to tie light braid to a mono leader. It is a no frills, easy to tie, beast of a knot, that you can tie with your eyes shut on a windy night, while standing in a tinny.Awesome. :cheer: 5 turns works for me. ;)

  5. Adelaide now has just released details of a drowning at the Murray Mouth.Apparently a 54 year old man ended up trapped in his vehicle and somehow ended up submerged.Another man tried in vain to swim out with a winch cable but the current was too strong. What a bizarre tragedy. :(

  6. Apparently the Manta Rays that so many people travel to see at Ningaloo Reef in W.A.are under threat because their dried gill rakers are worth a packet to the Chinese. These majestic creatures migrate from our waters to Indonesian waters and are being ruthlessly slaughtered as I type. :( Is there a creature on this planet that these people don't think cures erectile dysfunction? Happy Australia day.

  7. Noticed Alaskan King Crab for sale at the fish market over Christmas.Men risk their lives to catch these critters and then they are shipped half way around the planet to be sold at $30 a kilo. Our locally caught Crayfish was $80 a kilo.

  8. 4oz star sinker,25lb line,60lb mono trace, fillet of Salmon,Mullet,Tommy,or a strip of fresh Squid, nice looking gutter just on sunset. Most times you don't need to cast very far.Try at the bottom of Boettcher Road at Middleton.I've caught several Gummies there over the years along with small Mullies and plenty of Rays. That's your best shot. ;) Cheers Phil.
