  1. Would have been nice to have made the show but I'm glad JayR can atleast enjoy it !!!! Will be making some good doe as a consolation prize Tinker!!!
  2. Makes total sense. In terms of SAFFA I know they stock the Broughton for example and promote it as a tourist/fishing location for all people to enjoy. It's no secret that a local guy up there allows people access to the river. Just figured it would be the same in all naturally occurring river/streams that are stocked. I'm pretty sure after they stock a naturally occurring river/stream they don't technically own those fish regardless of membership or anything else. Short of tagging or genetic testing you just can't prove that fish is stocked or naturally spawned in any event. And if that fish
  3. I don't think you could keep that one on the shelves. It would be in every emergency/first aid kit on every boat. You name it.
  4. Anybody else have any thoughts?
  5. They look killer for the flats Troutflies is a pretty good web site in terms of selection. You can get a lot of good flies that you'll probably never use haha. However, I find their stuff sort of falls apart after a day or two fishing. Usually the beads are only hotglued with a tiny dab etc. Fisherman's Paradise has a good quality selection of salt flies. Store is on the tail end of Gouger street. Worth a look.
  6. Might have hit the nail on the head there. I'm starting to think I just caught the guy on a bad day. All seems a bit political and elitist though if you ask me. Recommending that only members be allowed to fish etc..is exactly the reason why I go fishing. To get away from all the bs. hahaha
  7. No it wasn't a dam, a nice little stream. Certainly not a Safwaa property. I completely understand that side of things though. I'm not a member either but certainly makes sense for private dams to limit access. From what I gather though essentially all streams/rivers are crown land up to the high water mark excluding periods of flood. So essentially you just can't cross private land to get to it but you can stand in it and on the bank and fish without trespassing if you gain access elsewhere. My thought process is that if your going to stock crown land then all can technically fish it.
  8. All those would work. The smaller the better I find.
  9. I was looking at these the other day at Anaconda. Almost picked one up but decided to do a bit more research before I committed to it. Good to see some action in the field there. Might just have sold me on one of theses niffty devices.
  10. A recent fishing trip put me in the path of a pretty hostile landowner. Knocked on his door to ask him if I could access spot X from his property. He comes out of his house so quick I had to take a few steps back. I started to explain that that I was hoping to go for a fish but before I could even introduce myself or get a friendly conversation going he interrupted me and asked if I was a member of SAFFA. I'm not so I said no. Turns out that was the wrong thing to say. He then asked me what I was doing here..I replied 'hoping' to go for a fish. Next thing I know he has launched into this whole
  11. Hi Guys, I have a Maagellan Explorist GPS. Does anyone know where to source free aerial maps or topo maps for this device? I have done a bit of googling but I haven't come up with much. Marc.
  12. So from what I gather SA Water's main arguments are: (correct me if I'm wrong?) Driest State: Protect the water from pollution. Conserve the water because we are limited....both OKAY arguments but nothing that certainly can't be worked around with cooperation. The only real argument I can see them pushing is one based on safety/protection from being sued etc. . Certainly for example..getting into Kangaroo Creek Reservoir for a fish at present would result in a few accidents/falls/broken ankles. All that can be fixed though with cooperation on their part ie. access routes. I admi
  13. Yeah, they look weird out on the mud flats, there is a actually a few of them in the area all used to retrieve and launch Would serve as a good fish spotting mobile also.

  15. Iv'e seen that beach contraption parked out front of a house along the road there by Thompson's beach. Pretty neat idea!
  16. I really need to cough up the dough and do a charter one of these days. Would be an unforgettable experience hooking into a Tuna of any size!
  17. Got to drop it right on their head more or less if they aren't taking it from a follow on. Iv'e seen it where 4 inches away doesn't get a bite but 2 inches away BOOM. It's on. Just need to be in that zone.
  18. Those legs are strange. Just imagining it awkwardly swim/crawling along hahaha
  19. Servo sunnies. Break them, lose them, replace them, your all good. Not the best but they don't break the bank.
  20. Too true about the Mountain Lions. They just stalk you and hit you from behind. They go for the neck and throat like any cat and your done. Once every few years you will hear about this happening somewhere. Theory has is that if attacked by a black bear your best odds are to fight back, give it as much steam back as you can and it should piss off. Any other bear, Kodiak, Brown, grizzly..your screwed no matter what. lol Hiking to the falls in the summer and came across this lovely paw swipe on the bridge..don't know what that sign did to piss him off but it did..
