  1. Hey ppl, don`t know if it`s true or not but it could be. My old man & I used to catch them on our snook lines in the vicinity of the "Southwest Ground" many years ago when I was a youngster. Also used to catch them near the Orontes Beacon around Xmas, also on snook lines. (40+ years ago but) Cheers all..
  2. Evening all,IMO too many people with very low post counts join up to sites like this one purely for what they think they can get. I`m always willing to help people that are willing to reciprocate/share. Think you`d do a lot better to contribute something to the site before you start asking for stuff, then ppl get to see you`re willing to put some effort in,after a while you could offer to swap some spots with other members. This will likely draw a much better response than what you`re currently getting. Suggest anyone with little or no knowledge head into a tackle shop & buy any one of the
  3. Hey all, good post, can always learn something new. Cheers ppl.
  4. Hey ppl, imo need to be brain dead to wear them in the boat or on surf beaches, the air trapped in them will turn you upside down in seconds & it is nearly impossible to get yourself back to head up position, tried it close to shore in 5 feet of water to prove it to a mate who wouldn`t be told that if he was coming out with me he would not be wearing them. If you have to wear them the only chance you`ve got is to instantly pull your knees up to your chest, grab your knees & stay in that pos`n until rescued. This stops water from trapping air in the bottom as water rushes in & keeps yo
  5. Hey ppl, all I can say to that is "BOG-HOLE". Cheers all.
  6. Hey ppl, just my 2 bob`s worth on the subject.Been fishin` for 5 decades & have never seen as many juvenile snapper around, they are in plague proportions so Fisheries & the powers that be must be gettin` something right, & the pro`s can`t be getting all the breeders. Cheers all.

What are we wanting to know here? ppl. These co-ord`s are Aus 66 datum, taken from Bruce Harris` book "Spot-on Fishing Marks,SA Metro & Country" & there`s nothing there except flat bottom. Hope this helps, cheers all
  10. Never ever heard of a problem with one of Youngie`s boats. Saw one he was repairing that had been run onto rocks at 10 knots & it still didn`t split the 6mm plate, dented it pretty well but no hole. One of the most sturdily constructed & best riding boats ever put on the water. Same with his fibre-glass ones. Got nothing but praise for the bloke.
  11. With regard to the Middle Beach boat ramp to nowhere,I understand it is planned to dredge the channel asap, think it was done by Mallala council not the state gov`t. So let`s get our facts in order before we start bagging things/people/gov`ts etc. Factual ,balanced, logical discussion please, not biased, emotional,ill-informed self serving rubbish. Cheers all.
  12. Hasn`t "Media Mike" already come out & said it`s not a happening thing?. All commercial net licences being bought out will never happen, nor will longline endorsements. Someone has to supply fish to ppl who eat it but don`t catch it,at a price that`s affordable or they won`t buy it. My mail is that Fisheries are happy with the state of the fishery & their stated aim of "maximising the resource" means they have to satisfy both sides of the equation by allowing commercial catch & recreational fishing without harming the fishery. Commmercial fisho no`s have been dramatically reduced he
  13. Whitworth`s in the Port have `em,cheap rectangular one is $35-$40,top of the range orange plastic, with screw together segments, and handles built in about $75. Have got one of the luxury models, had it for nearly 20 years, absolutely recommend it, Brilliant item. Will supply photo if you like, let me know.
  14. Watersnake & Boys day out PM`s sent.
  15. Spot-on Fishing Tackle/Seaton regularly has live tubies ,pays to ring first as they usually go quick
  16. If you mix the bi-carb with vinegar in sufficient quantity you`ll certainly get some vigorous fizzing as they neutralise each other, one is acid(vinegar) the other alkaline.
  17. I`m with Fishie on this one. Use bi-carb soda. Can be used as a deodorant, for smelly shoes, virtually anything that pongs.Use it all the time myself. Best thing about it is it can`t hurt you,non-toxic,edible etc. It`s a "salt" basically.
  18. Can`t supply pictures but a mate`s brother caught a 58cm KGW off the beach at Foul Bay in less than 4ft of water last week.Hope to have pictures in the near future.
  19. Had a heap more of that kiwi-fruit tenderised squid - Superb. Once again thanks for the great tip.
  20. Geez that sucker ate well, cooked him up in foil on the barbie, yummie :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
  21. Offer still stands if anyone is interested in swapping these co-ords.(Northwest Rock/Marble Hill) I am an old, ex commercial hook fisherman just looking for a few spots closer to home where I can catch a feed now & then. Have something like 500 GPS Marks between Glenelg & Goannas.Looking to trade some of the further away stuff for spots that are a bit nearer.
  22. Have seen quite a few myself in West Lakes,we used to rent a lakefront townhouse & they seem to have done well in there but out in open water where I do most of my fishing they weren`t uncommon in years gone by. Now however they seem to be almost non-existent. Caught that one from a boat in 50 feet of water out from Footy Park.
  23. Suspect this one will take a while to be outdone since they`re rarely seen or heard of in metro waters these days. Easily the biggest one I`ve seen or caught in over 45 years of fishing.Took a piece of squid while bottom bouncing for KGW. Length 42cm /Wejght 1kg
  24. Just had my first ever kiwi fruit tenderised squid,& I have to say it was the best I`ve ever had.Take a bow reelin for that awesome tip.
  25. Can anyone help me out with accurate co-ord`s for the rock on the "Northwest g`nd" at Outer Harbor, also interested in the ground Bruce Harris refers to as "Marble Hill".Would be greatly appreciated. Am willing to swap for them.My e-mail "barlin@adam.com.au
