  1. I,ve used them as well with some success but have only tried the resin heads, there great except the replacement heads have a heavier hook than the ones that come with the pack and they tend to flip the prawn upside down on the drop,I must give the heavier jig heads a go though. chees brenton
  2. You keep talking up those vx,s Yak but you didn,t upgrade the trebles ,tsk tsk.I,d love a Kayak but the boat might sit in the driveway more than it does ATM. cheers brenton
  3. Hi Croc Yes i tried almost everything during early winter and the best results were on the brighter lures and a heavier jig also helped, which took me a fair while to figure out i,m afraid but they were still pretty slow though.Next season i don,t think i,ll bother fishing for em till about now or i could get the bug to try and figure them out a bit more, there are certainly some good tips in the above posts that might be worth exploring further cheers brenton
  4. Welcome to S&H Bob,good to see you about cheers brenton

  10. My mate had one about 10 years ago and used to swear by it,whether the modern day Abu,s are as good well ???who knows cheers brenton
  11. you must of hooked him in the date,I hooked mine on the top of the head so i might of had a bit more of a chance.I did get him to the boat though and got my lure back.It was only a gillies pilchard but it was the principal of the thing. cheers brenton
  12. Well Done Chuck,Good to see you and Corinne out there ridding the world of some pests and having a bit of fun doing it. cheers brenton
  13. Geez Matt :-\ I,ve stopped pelicans on 6lb before ;D you gotta crank u that drag a bit fella. They are a real skill test, besides it would of looked hilarious from the shore watching some guy in a yak wrestling with a pelican trying to retieve his S/P :icon_lol: cheers brenton
  14. Hey Guys How about we just "all "delete "all" this dribble and leave the Gps marks for the newbie anglers to work it out for themselves. If it would make it simpler perhaps one on the mods can put a disclaimer in at the beggining of the thread to highlight the nature of internet marks. cheers brenton
  15. MMM,As i see it any marks i get off the net are not to be relied on, but they can get you in the general area and you can work it out from there using your sounder.I have plenty of my own marks and can,t recall ever fishing right on a internet mark(except perhaps wrecks) and having great success but i reckon they are a resource that can give the newbie angler a decent place to start with the aim of improving their fishing and sounding skills. cheers brenton
  16. Good Topic Yobbs, i have wondered that myself.Albright wouldn,t work for the same reasons , perhaps the 5 turn surgeons and doubling the braid might work.??? but that is limited by the length of leader that you can work with.Since you brought it up you let us know when you figure it out. cheers brenton
  17. Thats one long skinny fish Addict ,well done..your time chasing has paid off and given the local reds a rest cheers brenton
  18. Cheers Dave, after our chat today it sounds like a wholesale slaughter of the greasy blurters would be in order......to make some room. cheers brenton
  19. Mawson Lakes mate cheers brenton
  20. I reckon your probably spot on Yak and your theories made quiet an enjoyable read. ???However in winter and being shorebased i can,t catch a bream to save myself down there.I still see reasonable numbers of fish but they are very reluctant to take a lure, whether thats because they have been spending their nights in the depths of the lake gorging themselves in your inversion layer or because of the cold their metabolism slows and they don,t need to feed as often. Its been so slow for me there since mid April i,ve almost(i said almost) been tempted to buy a packet of Prawns which for some reason
  21. Geez Buff you don,t do things by halfs,It must feel great to use some of that gear,......I might have to borrow that set-up off you next time when i go scrambling over the rocks in search of rock cod.. :icon_lol:yeah..? cheers brenton

  24. Hooray {SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif They must of picked up on the negative vibe from the community and have put the plan on hold....(not to worry everyone its all done and dusted now)i bet they try and sneak it in later, probably next summer when the next raft of water restrictions are initiated(hey if we get the desal plant up you can use all the water you want) > cheers brenton
  25.
