  2. yeah i love my pickled seafood!only thing i have eaten that i didint like was morten bay bugs. everything else eaten from the ocean ive devoured!
  3. thats how i get my oysters too huge " non restaurant grade" oysters are the best! got the shack at coffins and know a few of the workers ;)i got a sack of about 25 doz last time. got about 15 dozen left... cant wait for the next feed!!
  4. Shane, short time only. any cephalapods need only a quick session on the heat.soak in milk to tenderise them if you like. but in all honesty ive never had to worry too much. some light herbs and spices and lightly fried.. hmmmm

  7. i grew up fishing the area from about the age of 5-21 most every weekend.now i head back when i can get time off work. Softy has visited the shack a few times now.. he loves it as much as i do. come to think of it.. im still yet to write the fishing report of our last trip across...
  8. definitely a strongie.. And Big Al, the ones down at Seal Corner get HUGE! ive got a shack at Kellidie bay. and have dived the corner and the ledge areas often. you will also see them with a nice blue colour. Blue Morwongs as opposed to the Duskys. ive seen them at over 4' long down there.

    i use a large dropper loop with a hook on the loop. i find snelled lines/hooks often foul like you describe.
  10. plenty of alternative and viable baits to be used to target the fish that take cockles. ive seen the cockle bars down near my shack decimated over the years and now its nearly impossible to get a bucket of them for personal usage from the very same bars i use to pick from as a kid and sell for pocket money to the guys next door.

  12. fantastic work mate!! when i busted my spinning reel on my surf rod on the weekend i almost brke out my old alvey for a salmon session.. but another large spin reel came on offer from my step father.. dont think he was keen on me re-steeling/borrowing the alvey he gave me when i was 14.. as i think he knows he would never get it back once i re claimined it ;)you have done well now enjoy it to its fullest!

    best to be cooked the day you catch them. they dont store well. im a big fan of floured then battered and fried. and add some season all spice to the flour, and also some spices to the batter mixture. i use the flour from the flour bag into the batter mixture.

  20. i landed 4 crabs into my yak... simply using my snapper outfit.. lol they wouldnt let go of my pilly!last thing you want on your lap.. is blue crabs when your in a yak!!! hahahha chucked the blighters back.. some some bigguns too!

Just a quick question,Softy and i are heading on a kayak trip over the long weekend chasing some snapper..was wondering.. do you burley up while using soft plastics??when im shore based fishing with pillies etc i burley up with pillies. but yak based and using soft plastics?? prob dont want fish juice on the yak in case of attracting smiley fish?Cheers for ya help!
