  4. was going to say cheap as for your type of fishing used to top up my alveys 650 and 550 with 300mtr spools dump bin and kmart specials 20lb to 30lb .Also found monoflex was very good as it is made by platypus.For backing used 50lb from my penn s cheers
  5. ditto the sensor surf rod have seen them 4 around 250 to 299 dollars a wicked stick that .If you donot want the saltiga surf there about 500 dollars , have a look at a emblem pro 5500a at about 300 dollars or if you want a base outfit fsu5120 graphite and penn spinfisher 9500 should come around 300 bucks cheers

  10. use 500mtrs 70lb on mine do you have the black alum spool or silver one if black alum use 50lb takes 650mtrs or 500mts of 60lb line . donot worry about braid cost u to much cheers
  11. yeah i have still got my first Alvey a 650 star drag rosewood spool classic and yes i have still got the cane rod ahh those were the days come to think i have got 550 c5 and 651 some where now where did i put the SEAMARTIN and Tatler m5 lol cheers
  12. there s a few rods that come to mind but it all depends how much dosh u want to spend and what pound line u want to run. SABRE670 10 to 15kilo,there 7 ft but big bucks , daiwa grandwave 7 ft overhead up to usp10kilo ,uglystick usb su70815 8 to 15kilo 7 ft , usp gb1706 7ft 6 inch up to 10kilo. Some custom rods fmt108 hoodlum about 9 ft 10kilo or little devil 6110 9ft 8kilo cheers

  14. have a look at a big spinner penn spinfisher 850 , 950, okuma salina 80 or eclipz 80 , 90 daiwa emblem pro 5500a emcast es6000 or GS 9 ,BG 90 OR any big shimano most of these reels will hold 300mtrs of 50lb braid or 30lb mono .With a 5120 or 4120 graphite rod would IMO be a good outfit to start with and also double for the surf as well .Some of these reels come with a spare spool witch u can put lighter line for salmon an mullys. If you want to go overhead saltist 40L or 50L with a 5120 graphite overhead rod imo should also be looked at and can be used for rays and sharks mullys. The spinne
  15. saw a guy get spooled on a penn 9/0 1000 mtrs 50lb off a west coast beach about 20years ago the reel was smoking and the side plates where red hot it was a 4mtr white and it took a 8lb live salmon it was all over in about 10mins . in the same spot about ayear later my mate got a 9ft 10in bronzie on a penn 6/0 ran 150mtr out then over 1 k down the beach . cheers

I use 30lb pretest mono i can get about 275mtrs on my 850 that should be ample for sharks up to 5ft and nice size butterys, biggest eaglie i have caught is 60lb on this outfit and bronzies up to 5ft .BUT i have got mind on a fsu 5120 as i like to throw out large squid heads and i also like the line stretch factor cheers
  18. had 500mtrs of 30lb pretest on my tld25 with a little room to spare so i topped it up with 6mtrs of 100lb leader 4 balloning but last season 4 casting filled it with 35lb schroder to the top cheap line and breaks way over .But you should be able to buy berkley IGFA 15KG in 600mtr spools that should fill it up just right cheers

  21. yeah saw this on texas sharking great video sorry undertaker but i think min wage in the states is 8.50 and hour which makes it worst but hey they might get cheap inters
  22. have to agree with benny mt6110 is the best 2 outfits i have got one i run overhead with abu 6500 and the other run a daiwa cy4000 and bg20 one with 6kg other with 8kg nice whippy tip and good grunt lo down my are are aprox 2.8 mtrs long caught small tommies and gar to 8lb salmon .I dont know if anyone still sells them straight of the rack but r and a used to have them under the little devil name they have one a little heavy 8kg fmt108 called a hoodlum i hopes this info is helpful cheers
