  1. Carl,I think Ranger has a massive point here. Why divide fishing votes and remain at the bottom of the list you put up.The greens dont have 'light green' and 'dark green' parties competing for votes.Based on those stats you put up it may be best to merge and achieve a seat? Thanks for helping others on here in any case.
  2. Well done champ. This is why I always go back to salmon at any given opportunity.......the memories!TB
  3. Carl,Stating who you preference on election day and some policy would go someway in aiding readers on here.I know you guys would advocate well for fishers but many have other considerations outside of fishing as well as varied opinion within it.TB
  4. I guess I should never of complained about my mate's business that was being badly affected by dewnr's marine park proposal ?Or my work mate who's son has cerebral palsy, has a specially rigged chair to go fishing off port moorowie with but was facing a massive sanctuary zone closure because Dewnr forgot that town existed?Plus many more reasons I lobbied my but off on behalf of others. If we all just let the gumbiment force their own agenda for political vote grabbing or any other reason without complaint where would we be?TB
  5. Erh....having a lend their ausea. If that is complaining then you have a fantastic sense of humor?Taking the piss is most suitable in this instance....ever heard of it?
  6. I think the fishermen should be banned for this...it is clearly their fault. Bring in more marine parks that ban surfing IMHO because now the fishermen can't fish they have all become surfers.I am outraged to the core....  http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/kite-surfer-who-glided-over-whales-in-waters-off-basham-beach-near-port-elliot/comments-fni6uo1m-1226675380148http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/whale-injures-surfers-at-bondi-beach/story-fni0cx12-1226675505920The best comment on the kite surfer so far.... Bring on the election so we can vote in t

  9. Thanks for the info all. As for the price in Asia I was surprised at how cheap Aussie Cray was. Unless they were false advertising our crays when they were local?TB
  10. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/17714910/lobster-fisheries-back-from-the-brink/From Western Australia but gives some insight into their management regime.
  11. A motion to put a hold on the federal mpa process was denied. Doesn't matter Burke will not be able to hide behind overseas advocacy from avaaz and other sites that pushed lies about oz fisheries management to gather thousands of non Aussie letters to lock rec n pro fishers out come election day hopefully.Hopefully the pollies that used this as public advocacy against sound oz stakeholders (their constituents) right to have a say in what happens in their own country will have their day. This depends on the holistic effort of those denied a voice to vote accordingly.
  12. A great initiative for sure but the costs to cover an indivisuals existing employment/family inconvience needs to be good or any incentive is lost.More applicants would probably result if state government support for recreational fishing had any substance and we had a well funded body. For any indivisual looking to represent SA who seeks to then move interstate where there is real professional progressive opportunities this would be a good stepping stone.
  13. The fishing at stanvac would change with seasons, tides, moon phases and most importantly three things...1)Favourable natural variations that occur across marine bioregions. Ever heard of 'class years' on snapper? This happens for other species as well.2)Anthropogenic improvements in reducing our land use, coastal and offshore detriments.3)Sound fisheries management regimes.I wonder why the goverment produced stuff all research on the areas closed to fishing in SA prior to implementing another 80 odd closed areas for political vote grabbing/general revenue?Did the evidence not support the clai
  14. I have to agree with URH. Just because it is "there" doe not mean it has to be fished. It's a fish haven.People have gotten on without fishing it.Once it is opened up it would never be the same - Look at PT Noarlunga Jetty, many a fruitless day spent dropping a line there!People are accustomed to not fishing it, better this than an increase in those dreaded Marine Parks.A few diving friends have seen a very rich population near Pt Stanvac Jetty, much more than Pt Noarlunga Jetty. Many a fruitless day would be spent fishing Pt. Stanvac as well. Just like most other jetties in the state. I have fi
  15. While I don't quite rate Stanvac in the same prestigous catagory as Busselton Jetty, this was put up as an idea by another fisho.http://d1054021.myweb.westnethosting.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/G02389-BJECA-StrategicPlan-Final.pdf
  16. URH....Thanks for being frank about your belief in the science etc... True of much of our inland and coastal areas but how many really know the hollistic true benefits as opposed to ambit claims of benefit across all species? There are tonnes of snapper on areas open to fishing as well as areas closed, same goes for other species of fish. However, before claiming that landbased fishing from this jetty would not be sustainable, effect local biomass on any meaningful level etc perhaps you should read this....Recent report by Rob Paxevanos... TB
  17. This is also ridiculous, because this is not something that ocurred this week. This event happened many many months ago. I was simply pointing out that the jetty does at times hold large numbers of Big Snapper. I'm not whinging in anyway shape or form. Yes the guy who CAUGHT them was breaking the law by fishing inside the restricted area, but I was only pointing this out because in my opinion (formed through talking to this guy and having a fairly good understanding of the species) is that the Snapper are there for long periods during the Snapper season. Please keep giggling, because these a
  18. Im a big boy, I can take it, I dont mind if you consider my views laughable.Your views are diffrent to mine, at least they are educated and I respect them Water of a hairy ducks back mate. Selfish!! at last, someone else is saying it. The whole rec scene is selfish!!I want my own reef, I want my own marks, I dont want the pros to fish, I dont want marine parks, if a jetty exists I want to fish it!! :woohoo: :woohoo:My views are the same no matter the forum so of course the wording is similar...not trying to shy from anything there. No cut n paste was required in that instance, just me
  19. Personally, I prefer sound management before bans and conservation before exclusion as they are seperate things.Hell, I see few reccies fighting against all the other external factors that are making our recreation untenable so lets just create internal anti rec fishing hatred and fall on our sword.People in this state seem to hate seeing other people fishing, period....:vomit: Must be climate change....
