Check the daiwa iprimi on their site. Out in July- designed for trout, shortest is 6'2" but that is a good tight area length. I preferred my 6'6" to my 5'5" as it was easier to reach around trees and guide fish around snags.

hahah most probably is ahaha' date=' wudnt have a clue all i know is its working like that haha :Pand cheers mate![/quote']Many reels allow you to change retrieve direction- usually pop the spool off and change direction of one way bearing/retainer if there is one (ie reel with drag). SMS don't need this but you do need to change direction line is spooled on.

Im very new to this form of fishing and yes i do realise that the line was spooled on backwards' date=' as the fly rod and reel came from america. But was also wondering if it is just the Americans that wind the reel towards them? Instead of the normal way on? Cheers SamN.[/quote']Left hand retrieve reel? ;-)Great fish!!!! Well done.

My goal:Catch and LAND the B*STARD trout that I have hooked and dropped no less than three times. I swear it stops, turns and laughs at me each time    All I want is a photo!

Cool! That would have been a nice surprise.... I take my little ones to that spot for a carp fish every now and then, nice and safe. Decent sized carp too! What you get it on mate?

Nice looking reel' date=' amazed at what they can do with the colours. How well will it hold up to scratches?[/quote']Ross say the way the image is coated on the reel is more resitant to damage than the normal anodizing I believe..... but we will let the first few rocks I drop ut on be the judge of that ha ha

I'd go with the factory build for sure  What line did they send you' date=' get yourself a RIO LT DT3F line mate' date=' suits the Sage's delicacy beautifully. Cheers Dazz[/quote''] The line is a no-name generic one that feels worse than the one that came with my wife's $10 reel :-) I have already ordered that exact line through eBay :-) however the rod is a few weeks away- prob going to be my present to myself to make me feel better after I have seen how much the tax man has bled from me this FY. Cheers,Nick.
Tossing up either getting a factory made OR buying the Sage blank and getting Rob to practice his rod building skills with it! Ha ha ha. Gotta ditch the P.O.S. line and get something decent for it too.Sweet bit of bling mate. Now for a nice little Sage TXL-F 7'10" 3 weight to go over it would be nice and you'll have a ripper setup.Cheers Dazz -
You read my mind there mate!Tossing up either getting a factory made OR buying the Sage blank and getting Rob to practice his rod building skills with it! Ha ha ha. Got this in the mail today, luckily ordered just before the Aussie dollar dropped below parity again.Gonna set her up with a nice 3 weight rod to use in battle against the finicky trout that live down the end of my street. These fish love to laugh at my hard and soft lure offerings whilst they casually sip bugs off the surface near my feet..... Hopefully a tiny dry or nymph will do the trick. Limited edition brown trout Ross Evolution LT SE.... Can't wait to try it out. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Very noice mud monster mate, well done!

Being "totally ignorant" of the tournament scene how much "by-catch" is there?Minimal ?.........abundant?............depends on the water fished?Just curious' date='that's all [/quote']Usually waaaaay to many ST's this time of year, hard to get your lure past them sometimes, plus you sometimes get flatties, whiting, puffers, even had mullet, and in my case a cormorant last comp

Had none until Good Friday last year.... I fell down a cliff whilst fishing (was walking back home on a slippery path) about 10 minutes walk from my house. Ended up poised on the edge of a second drop off and everytime I moved (to try and stop the profuse bleeding from my leg) I slid a little bit further toward another long fall. Took 50 minutes for emergency crews to find me/arrive and I then required helicopter retrieval as there was absolutely no other way to get me out. had the CFS, MFS, police, abulance, Helicopter and about four news crews come.Ended up destroying my right ankle, cut my hands up and dinged my daiwa combo. Didnt walk for four months and my ankle is still gimpy a year later. Managed to snap off some pics whilst I was being rescused (I asked the emergency crews if they minded)Mr Morphine:

Get a 2506 spool for that and it would be an awesome HB reel. The finesse spools also have better suited, ie lighter, drag setups. The wider diameter spool enables line to easily strip from reel.Hi all just considering buying a dawai sol 2500 combo for bream lure casting.I already own a 1000 size reel I use for smaller lures and also a 4000 combo for throwing around larger hb'sBut I need something in the middle. I like using slightly larger lures for bream (5/6cm) such as mirror shads but there a little heavy my smaller outfit. Has anyone fished the 2500 for bream or should I look into a 2000 sized sol?

Ha ha ha, saw you just bought one.... to late again BR!

R&A's have the Daiwa Heartland 2000/2500/3000s on clearance for $199=> these were $330ish, same body as Sol, 7 CRBB's, nice matt black colour, comes with spare spool.....

Well' date=' don't believe the hype as the marketing expression goes I'm very seldom wrong in picking a "killa" in a tackle shop as I've proved to myselfmore than a few times (the redfin were'nt too happy either in most cases!)These blades cast well on finesse gear but that's the highlight! You have to crank them real fast to attain a vibration (which is not what a redfin wants, slow is GOLD)And you need to lift them real hard and quick, again to get a vibration.OH well, win some lose some.NOW, just wait until I get my new "Cretaceous Prawns" soft plastics by "Fossil Fish" wet!!!!!They look WIKID! :woohoo:[/quote']Got some nice bream on the Cretaceous prawns in the SABT last weekend Tony. They put up with a hell of a lot of rough housing and stay on one piece. Just took some reddy fishin this morning but didn't chuck any.
