  1. I would have thought that would be the case too pp, since they all come with one on, but having used split rings for years, and recently changed to removing them, I've only seen positive changes in my hb fishing!
  2. Not sure if you do it already or not, but a good bit of advice I got from a mate was to take the split rings off the front of the lures and attach the lure to your line using a rapala or loop knot. I've noticed since doing that that the lures swim straighter and a lot nicer, and you have one less hunk of metal on the lure (my suspending HB's actually suspend now)
  3. Love these Flats reports! Great photos and solid catches!
  4. Getting the tiny little trebles on Bream lures stuck in your hand is always enjoyable......Managed to pin my fingers together with this lure after getting it caught on a zip while pulling it out of my back pack And like others in this thread, I've also been bitten by the outer harbor rocks while trekking out to the end. Misjudged a jump between rocks and manged to catch the edge of a rock with my lovely shock absorbing shins, and very nearly knocked myself out out cold with my back pack.....couldn't see for about 5-10 minutes, and could have just laid down and gone to sleep wher

  6. Gum weir is almost empty at the moment and has been completely empty for the last couple of months (although may be full again after this weekends rain). It's surprisingly shallow when you see it empty, could probably walk across it when it's full and not get your shoulders wet. Water clarity and access are better than normal in the upper reaches of the Torrens since the bushfire, but the fish seem to have vanished, haven't even seen a carp!
  7. There was a dude with two 18kg tuna there the other day using the cleaning table, probably someone doing the same thing?
  8. Aussiefisha9 is a favourite of mine for Land Based Sharking (Eyre Peninsula) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfbWzNskdoht4WGimKG0JOQ
  9. Anywhere there are rocks plus weed patches has done the job for me landbased at some of the spots mentioned above. Have landed them on ZMan Slim swims, Squidgy flick baits, whips baits and berkely powerbaits (all in pilchard sort of colours) Have had plenty of follows and hits on largish hard bodies aswell but no hookups as yet. Medium to fast retrieve has been the go on both HB's and SP's
  10. Put in two overnight sessions this weekend (friday night and saturday night) even though I know its quite early in the season. Went to semaphore on Friday night for absolutely nothing, despite managing to get the balloon out 150-200 yards very easily. Couple of big doggies pulled off the bottom and a bag of 52 tommies keep things moderately interesting. Went to Henley last night. Few guys already sharking there when we got there, but were struggling to get the balloons out. A mate put a balloon out eventually, but struggled to get it more than 40-50m off the jetty, despite a nice easterly.
  11. Hahaha yeah, Only thing I use snaps for other than balloons is when I'm squidding, to allow quick changing of jigs Thanks for that barbz, looks like the same setup as I use, just with added heat shrink! Will give it a go!
  12. Dutchy the crappy little snap swivel is what I clip the balloon to. I have a game snap swivel on the end of my wind ons which clips to the big swivel on the top of the wire (or the top of the abrasion leader if I'm using one) No way would I ever use a crappy little K-Mart snap to connect my main line to my wire You can see the big snap I use in this pic of my 9/0 (and yes I know its a crappy china built one )
  13. This is what I have made up to use at present. Might have to consider investing in some heat shrink aswell and give it a go
  14. Ah right yeah, that all makes sense! Thanks for that!
  15. Thanks for that! Whats the go with the heat shrink on the joins? Does it stop them catching/chafing/rubbing, is it something to do with the shark being able to sense the metal, or is it purely a cosmetic thing?
  16. Do you guys use coated hooks, or wrap your hooks in electrical tape or anything, or have you found it doesn't make a difference? Wondering, if it is the done thing, whether that plasti dip spray paint you can get would have the same effect, and be a little neater than heat shrink or electrical tape?
  17. Also looking for a cheap kayak in the coming month or so. Swimming baits out in the dark has the potential to be hazardous
  18. Proper pic of my gear now that I have two rods sorted. TLD30A 2spd, 50lb mono, 80lb top shot, Wilson Live Fibre 15-24kg Land Based Game TLD25, 30lb mono, 50lb top shot, Backbone Elite 15kg Fully rollered
  19. 30lb mono with a 50lb Top shot. The TLD30 has 50lb mono with an 80lb top shot
  20. My two reels for this summer. Bit of a newbie when it comes to shark fishing, but we shall see how we go. I will be running the TLD25 on my 15-24kg Live Fibre, still looking for a rod to fit the 30 to.
  21. http://www.pir.sa.gov.au/fisheries/recreational_fishing/responsible_fishing/bait_and_tackle/berleying_in_south_australian_waters_-_frequently_asked_questions What about the use of small amounts of meat for berley or bait when targeting fish such as mullet? The intent of the law is to minimise the impact berleying may have on attracting sharks to areas close to other water users. It is considered unlikely that these products will have significant attractant properties and so they will be dealt with in the same manner as commercial berley. Compliance officers will use their dis
  22. Cubes of chicken drumstick work well for me (its a little tougher than breast)
  23. Cheers Guys, Bjorn and Mods, and the sponsors of course! Congrats PP, your report from the Murray is a well deserved winner! And thanks for the kind words regarding the photos
  24. Were there any other flavours around, or just Chocolate rainbow sprinkle? Could you PM me the GPS marks for the bakery you got it from?
