  1. Cheers fellas . Well hopefully i will be able to get all 3 up and running but the first lot of fingerlings i want are going to be Cod , but not sure if this is a positive as yet . If not then maybe some Silvers and then Goldens and i am hoping to get some Trout after summer . Not sure what time the Vasilis Garden is on ?
  2. I have been testing the waters with an Aquaponics setup . I first heard or read about the concept on the computer and done some research into the idea and funnily enough it coincided with a possible purchase of some fingerlings . In my research i also decided that i did not want to have to pay for the power that a pump and aerator can consume in there continuous demand being on 24/7 . So solar power was going to have to be the way to go . First things first i had to source out a water proof container , that was large enough to raise some fingerlings to a decent size . Back into some research
  3. I cant really say as i have only really been down the Coorong over this summer but i have had to wrestle a Mully out of a sealions mouth . I had hooked up to a Mully and then as i was reeling it in i had some extra weight all of a sudden , then a seal popped it's head out of the water with my line tracing straight to it ? I gave a quick tug and the Mully came free and a quick wind and the Mully scooted across the water to me . Would of been around 40cm , gave it a swim to make sure it was all good , had a couple of missing scales but looked good otherwise . It did swim off strongly so i hope i
  4. Mulloway in the salt , coz you never know how big it will be but even the little one's are fun .Murry Cod in the fresh , same reason .
  5. The Canoe is named the "Mully Magnet" , me i am just Jimbo . Been working today and only just got home .
  6. I could tell you but .... Seriously tho it takes a lot of time and effort to work out when , were and how . It has taken me a few years to be able to know when the best time to hit up the Onk and it still surprises me . I haven't caught Mully's in winter till this year and i am not sure why they are about ? Best advice is to do a bit of research then some hard yards trying , and if you try really hard and have no luck i will give you a hand .
  7. There is a big inlet pipe at the southern end and is in only . It is quite a big pipe but it is only open when the ocean tide is high enough to keep levels at a constant in west lakes .
  8. If you persist you can still get results . A quick sesh sat morning saw 3 Mully's caught , One by me ,
  9. If i had a choice i would be hitting up the Coorong . Pillies while i try for live bait or soft plastics , either or .
  10. You wouldn't have to print it all the way to the edge tho ?
  11. Yeah i wouldn't be interested personally . If i can't catch live bait myself then i usually have pillies as backup .
  12. Jackblack's design is pretty good . I would be up for a hoodie for sure . My old shirt could go into retirement ? Black would be my preference as it would not be stained as easily .
  13. Keep at it , I personally wasn't very comfortable using SP's but after trying and trying and trying i have got it a bit more sussed , feel more confident , i am having more success but still i will struggle to catch a decent amount of fish . But when they are on it is great fun . It is that confidence that you ARE doing the right thing that helps when not catching anything . don't be afraid to mix it up either ie quick reels back in , long pauses with hardly a reel , a quick jerk every now and then and every thing in between . Good luck and don't give up , it is very rewarding to trick a fish
  14. I really hope they come on again after this winter . not sure if i will get up there and have a fish and would be really disappointed if they don't start up again ever .
  15. Yeah i find that you can get more distance with light lb line when casting which means you are covering more groun and when you get used to it you can do small casts in those tight areas . I personally wouldn't use more than a 6lb line .
  16. I second what savage480 says . Logistics would be to hard . What if you live bait dies before you use it ? Would you get your money back ?
  17. Not bream but might help .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lis_vm73swg
  18. Catch a few of these goby in the onk . This is what smokey should chase with his 100lb line in west lakes for a challenge .
  19. Will take you about 4 hrs roughly paddling in Kayaks or Canoe's unless you have a motor . Not sure about tawitcherie but me and Damian nailed 6 Mully's between us tonight down the Coorong . These were on soft plastics .
  20. I hope the Mully's have tagged will give some more info on there travels . Would be awesome if a mully i tagged in the Onk ended up far west or down to Vic and like wise for Coorong Mully's to end up at the Onk ,Port or west coast . Good bit of info that , thanks for sharing .
  21. It should be alright and i pretty sure Aquarium shops have chemical test kits to keep your levels right . Make sure you know the legal lengths of all fish in said container and as long as it is kept in the shade i can't see many water temp problems . I have kept live bait in an old tub before for a few days with just a fish tank aerator keeping them in a cool shaded place . I was surprised as things came up that kept me busy for a couple more nights than intended . Also caught one of those Roach in a local water way witch was a surprise .
  22. Got a canoe myself fella . If an when your keen we could catch up an go for a fish . In a couple of weeks would be good , I usually go down the Onk but west lakes would be a good idea ? Let us know . Cheers Jimbo .
