  1. I'm glad to hear they were caught! I think 300 a day per person is plenty, when you think they will cost you close to 75c each at the tackle store, you're getting good value for money out of a trip to goolwa!!

  3. Hey mate as far as a nice surf reel for mullies and alike I can't go past a tica gg100 they retrieve approx. 34inch of line with every turn of the handle and have a good drag setup too, more than enough for stopping a mullie!! I absolutely love mine :)
  4. Nice work mate, I fish the onk very regularly and have only caught one mully so far, that footage makes me very envious.. Well done mate, good footage
  5. I don't think you should ask about the sharks ubolt because i think I would rather not know :)
  6. Well done tp, sounds like a good trip although I'm sure you would have been happy to take home a big mullie if you keep persisting there it will come... Atleast that's what everyone tells me
  7. Well I went down to anglers choice today and bought myself the 950, and endedup getting a new surf rod aswell can't wait to give them a try!!!!!
  8. That makes my blood boil! And for this Philip to try and defend the ocean hauling he must have his finger in the pie!! It's no wonder I can't catch a bloody mullie :)
  9. Hey all, I was just wondering what rod people would recommend to match a Penn 950ss for snapper fishing from boat, looking at spending $150 or around abouts?:S
  10. Mate that just plain sucks! My brother had his lock box stolen off the back of his ute a couple months back, and it sure isn't cheap to replace tools.. As for your fishing gear that's probably the sadest thing I've heard on this site! I hope the b!stards get wats coming to them! I will keep my eyes pealed for you, and definately have a look at cashies.. Hope things start looking up for you mate..Midcoast
  11. My family have had a shack in the coorong on ewe island ( in between the mouth and tewitcherie) for 20 years and all I know is any water that comes through is great! We haven't had the barrages open for well over five years, and this is the most promising sign for the coorong in that time! I am jumping up and down with excitment at the moment :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: But I'm not saying they will release the amount of water needed to completely flush it out either
  12. I heard lastnight that the goolwa barrage has a few gates open, so it looks very promising, yeeeeeew!
  13. I wish they would open up the barrages at tewitcherie and flush out the coorong it needs it desperately!
  14. Haha you know I wouldn't go anywhere else, I like hanging out in the shop too much
  15. That's a serious gold fish! Haha atleast you know the birds won't steal that one out of your pond haha :)
  16. Well so far it looks like I'll be going for a couple of Penn 950ss.. Has anyone used the daiwa windcaster or know much about them?
  17. Forgot to mention the snapper fishing is from a boat not land based, thanks..
  18. Hey everyone, I'm looking at getting a new reel or possibly even a couple.. I've had my eye on a Penn 950ss and daiwa gs-9.. I would like to use them for both surf fishing and snapper, any opinions on which would be best? Or even if you could suggest something else around the $250 mark.. Thanks all feedback appreciated
  19. I'm with you snappahunta.. I believe it doesn't matter what you paid for your gear, it will still catch you fish.. I think some people forget that not all that long ago people used bamboo rods, and they would pull more fish out of a river system in a day than majority of you would in a 3 months.. Like with anything you don't blame your gear!
  20. Hey everybody I have two Penn overhead reels that I want to put line on for snapper fishing etc. I haven't done much sea fishing from a boat and wanted to find out what line would be best for me eg. Lbs and braid or mono, thanks..
  21. I have also heard of slot of trouble with braid in the surf. I have been using a 30 lb mono on the spool, and a 100lb jinkai mono leader. Have found this is a good combo
