  1. Tough aint the word JR. Those smilies she uses are based on real life events Yeah I reckon the platinum should be fine off the rocks. Was a toss up between that and the lo stretch. Judging by the line diameter though I reckon I could have a gone up in rating a bit though. The line I am usin at the moment is 30lb too but twice as thick.
  2. Correct . But I am workin on a rig for the rocks so when the new surf rod arrives I'll be using that with bait and the current rod will have the placcies rigged up.
  3. An abu 6500 on a starlo stix rod. Thought I'd use somethin a bit different for soft plastics and snapper
  4. Yeah mate I was quite surprised. I mean I would have been happy with just the recommendation and the line replaced. It doesnt take a great deal to keep customers happy but these guys I believe were exceptional. The hat was a nice extra. Pity I wont get to use it. Sandy whiting has claimed it already
  5. Its usually hard to find service as good as this from large companies.A number of months ago I bought some Platypus sinking braid to try out. So about a month after purchasing I got out for a fish and found that once the line was wet the colour from the braid was literally dripping and onto my new cork grips. AAGGH. Pink grips . So I rang Platypus and was told to return the line and it would be tested and if faulty it would be replaced, oh and postage was on them. No worries. But slack ass me hadnt sent the line off just yet and a few weeks later I am researching lines to put on an alvey to
  6. Have a practice with that an if ya like it upgrade to a 600 or 650 size. Checkout their website for all the different models.
  7. Del give platypus a go. I did the whole research thing and finally decided dollar for dollar platypus is on the money price wise quality wise and strength wise and it is Aussie made. The fact I rang them for facts on what the best choice was helped as well. Their GM asked for my number to ring me back so I wasnt payin for the phone call while we worked out what the best product from their lineup was.
  8. Doesnt matter what alvey you got mate as long as its matched to the rod then you definitely have a bargain. I agree they are a brilliant reel, I love em. Not much chance of breakin em at all. Very low maintenance reel, but a different style of fishing to an egg beater. Once you master it I reckon you'll be hooked

  11. Of course Tony. Everyone wants the latest and greatest and the more its talked up with techno speak that noone understands the more we all think thats the stuff and better go get 1.
  12. Sorry statesquider, pardon my ignorance, but wouldnt a good quality soft plastic rod do the same thing as a dedicated egi rod but at a lower price?? Although those rods do look the goods . Just thinkin that they are both designed to toss a relatively light weight around.
  13. Definitely more up to date. Go check whyalla though
  14. It is an attitude that needs adjusting..............with a length of 4x2 Take what I can while I can which is why fisheries really need to step up. They really are a joke as far as policing their regulations. Sure ya may not agree with all of em but thems the rules an if you wanna play against those rules you should expect a penalty if caught.
  15. Maybe if fisheries started applying the fines they say they can then maybe people wont see them as such a joke and take notice and with the revenue raised be able to employ more officers.
  16. Go on Carps Have some fun. Just mix the Lot

There are quite a few very experienced fishos on this site and I for 1 am grateful for the info that they share. But an inexperienced fishos thoughts can be just as well respected. Maybe you have a new take on a certain fishing style or have read about a new knot to use????? Everyone can learn something new and sometimes fresh eyes can be the best teacher :cheer:
  18. Well Done Dubs64. Top way to show your appreciation. And congratulations Ranger. Well deserved
  19. If your wanting to hold extra gear like wallet phone lunch and stuff that same brand that Del has just shown have a bag called the The Trekking Pack. 5 tackle trays included. Reckon it would suit what your after.
  20. Gee you dont look a day over 499 Your doin well to be pullin kids around on a ski rope .Excellent stuff mate thats what life is about. Kids and good times
  21. Im currently doin the same as you Del, looking for a decent quality well priced line to spool the alvey up with and have come down to a choice of 2 brands. Trilene big game or platypus. Like the platypus lines (both low stretch and platinum) but they are a thinner diameter for the weight which is usually good but may work against me on the rocks. The trilene comes in 1200m spools which is very convenient and is cheap compared to others so am starting to lean that way
  22. Fishie wrote: ha ha. Not wrong. Must have been a real boozer Geez that one your mate got has a big snoz as well
  23. Hmmm. Maybe. Some have a big lump on top of the head others have a honker nose and others have both yet others with no ugly lumps at all.
