  1. Clay - just remember to try to keep your leader as light as possible dependant on the structure you are fishing. For a simple knot to begin with [and my favourite anyway] try a double uni for your main line to leader connection, and use a loop not for your lure connection. Hope this helps.
  2. Considering we are talking about bream fishing, i think the sugegstions of Jinkai, Surecatch High Tensile, etc are probably a bit innapropriate.Flourocarbon has a light refractive index very close to that of water, making it virtually invisible whilst under water. FC also generally has a higher abrasion resistance as a leader material and has minimal stretch. My favourite would be Sunline V-Hard FC. Nitlon also do a relatively good FC for breaming, etc which is slightly cheaper than the V-Hard.
  3. Cool, the 10lb Sunline Super PE [0.6] would go a treat on that combo. Comes in at about $30 for the 150m spool depending on where you shop.
  4. It is quite dependant on exactly what your doing and which gear you are using, but i tend to use sunline products for all my lure casting applications. For bream lure casting on a reasonable quality light setup i would use 10lb sunlines super PE.
  5. The money from a liscence suc as this will just go back into general revenue... Considering the massive cuts are being made to budgets everywhere, it is foolsh to think the government will spend money on recreational fishing unfortunately. From my standpoint, just look at our emergency services. Already underfunded and underresourced in all sectors, and yet they want to cut us by even more... Those leaked documents held rumors of closures of up to 30 stations across the state, who knows if that will happen, but for christs sake...How about we instantly save a mint by not wasting money on a bloo
  6. Looks a lot like a Daiwa Dr Minnow. Some of them may be originals... im not sure if the copies were done with permission or not.
  7. http://www.jazlures.com/index.htmNot sure where they are made. Lots of old Aussie designs being used by them??
  8. Not as productive as some of the vibes out there, but they do work on a lot of species. They are fairly effective in the fresh on trout and redfin, and although the teeth give them a working over i have also caught bream on them.Recently [not sure if it is still on] Anaconda was selling them for $2 a pack [of two], definitely worth it at this price to chuck in the nastiest snags.
  9. Guys, careful not to confuse JAZ lures with Jazz lures. Two differant companies with differant quality of product.
  10. Certainly looks like a winner savage. Do you have a name for it? My contacts still have not come through...
  11. Tony - this picture may excite you somewhat if you look at the lure second from the right in the bottom row... Im waiting for a reply from the pictures owner as to whether they know the name.http://www.lureandmore.com/download/file.php?id=6972
  12. Tony, do you have a better pic of the blade? If so i can pass it on to a few mates who may be able to help out. In the mean time ill do some investigating for you.
  13. If it was me i would just pretend they didnt exist...
  14. I know some here have obviously realised this, but for those that dont seem to have grasped it. Simon's scenario is hypothetical, and his employers store has not been closed down, hence; "this is an OPINION, NOT a FACT".Getting advice, having a play and sorting out what you want only to turn around and buy OS and undercut ya local is just dirty. If your going to buy OS just leave the locals out of it... anyone ever heard of 'blue balls'? Surely its a similar scenario,,, lmao.
  15. They look very nice mate, especially that one with the orange tinge.
  16. Anything by BlackWolf is usually good quality, Carribee is also good stuff.Word of advice. Dont get too sucked into bags that have five million differant pockets, zips, toggle, hangers, etc etc. Youll end up wishing y6ou just had bigger compartments for boxes etc and wont use a lot of the gimics. Two things that are useful though are rain covers that they build into some of them, and zsmall waterproof section for keys/phones.
  17. Two Plano Guide series bags full of Trays with a fly vest when on the move, so i can take what i want for whatever trip, a bag is also good for out on the boat. And a few of the rolling storage crates, plus vertical drawers and a desk for storage in the fishing room.
  18. Nah man, too much salt isn't good for you!
  19. Ya get what ya pay for.Putting down $50 for peace of mind when chasing a trophy fish [presumably your targetting something big if using 40lb] suits me.
  20. Yeh they also have a bit of fly gear in there, which i have taken a bit of an interest in lately. I work in the CBD so a quick trip is sometimes made there prior to a night shift. Easy way to do it since i live miles from most tackle shops.
  21. Dubs The Tackle Man wrote: I tend to use Fisherman's Paradise in the CBD the most. Good range of gear and good prices, and some of the friendliest staff around in my opinion.
  22. Dubs The Tackle Man wrote: My point is that if a few knowledgable young fishos were working there, then they wouldnt have the bad rep in the first place, and would actually be able to point everyone in the right direction.Anyway if i actually want to have a nice chat to the shop keep i know where i'll be going.
