Sounds more like bait fishing than fly fishing since you did not actually catch fish on a 'fly'.

Gen Blacks are good rods. Should be a perfect medium duty plastics set up for you matched with the 3000. 15-20lb leaders will be fine with the guides, you will just have to try either FG knots or not winding the knot past the first guide.

I personally use a double unit but gave also dabbled with the FG. I'd also suggest your leader is simply too long. I've been fishing artificials almost exclusively (and very successfully) for the last 10 years and my personal opinion on leader length is 5-6 foot, some people will tell you otherwise, but I've never had a problem on the light gear.

I've caught a lot of bigger bream on the 75s and they cross over nicely as a lure for schoolies. If your looking to fill out a box though it would be a good idea to get a couple in each size. Natural colours for clean water, gold/silver or solid colours for dirty water.

My boat plastics set up is a Certate 2510r-pe currently on a Samaki Zing 7ft 8-15lb, currently spooled up with 15lb super PE> Beautiful set up for coorong [and anywhere else] mullies with plenty of grunt. I also have a heavier rod i have done some work with when there's a bit more structure and i need to turf em out quickly. No idea when it comes to live baiting, but i dont think you'd have any issues using the same gear. There is a bloke selling a certate 2500 in the classifieds at the moment.

yeah not a big fan of that guy, 'Winga' i think it is.... he's interesting on facebook as well. people have brought things like that up gently & easily with him and get a barrage of abuse from the bloke. lets face it though, MOST, not all, of the fishing shows on ch44 are that low budget and quality that they are barely worth watching.

Size 1 tournament jigs are made with 'fine wire' hooks... so realistically they are designed for bream and trout fishing. This is your problem straight up. Size 1 is probably also a bit small for queenfish and golden trevally anyway.I'd upgrade to 2/0 for a start, and try out the TT headlocks jigs, they are pretty tough. Have had no issues with snapper and mulloway in a range of sizes of jigheads from the range. Another option in the TT range would be the "extremem HEad hunter" jigheads which are made with tougher hooks. eg 2/0XH as the size code.the headhunter jigs are better value for money

If it's for trout and reddies in creeks, i'd go shorter.

Legal size bream is about 9 years old on average versus legal salmon trout being about 14-16 months according to what ive seen on the net.Just something to consider when ramming a couple of hooks through its back.Not one of the over the top cranks non this but seems a bit harsh when a fish has made it that far.

Hi mate, i have used the 'bitza' and the 'warrigal' with a bit of sucess.Personally i prefer more of a walk the dog style lure. Favourite being Atomic k9 walker.

Got some of the wriggler style Bozos. They work ok.Personally i prefer squidgie wrigglers and fish or zman grubs.

Cheap lures generally don't swim well or have issues with terminals. I wouldnt reccomend it. Some of the 'cheaper' lures that still fish extremely well include the strike pro range and berkley 3b range.If your wanting to fish lures but keep it as cheap as possible then maybe soft plastics would be more the go. But even then... the cheap and nasty ones don't swim nearly as well as the brand names; ie squidgy, berkley, etc.Over time fishing lures you tend to lose less and less. Skills evolve and even just reading a situation and using the right type of lure helps.Only interested in buying them f
