  1. Take it back mate, and the reputable dealer will only glady exchange it.......obviously a mis-understanding in it's intended usage somewhere.
  2. I have 3 Live fibres, and I love 'em all 2 are "off the rack".......an 8' o/h rated 8/10kg,and a 7' o/h LBG 15/24kg.The third is a 5'6" stroker 24/37kg that I had built at South Oz Rods a number of years back. That's a stump puller, and has done a lot of work on heavyweights, and is still as nice as the day it was built. There's obviously a lot of great rods around from other makers, but they are bloody good rods, especially for the $$$$
  3. I would go the 6500 and 50lb for the same reasons Snake said But if you only have "chicken wings" like Ranger claims he has,the smaller job
  4. Carp.....was he on holiday?
  5. socks and t-shirts from the rowing club and blue ringed octopus from up near the outlet.....Bower Road? Was just sitting there fishing in amongst some rocks, and I dropped my knife into about 6" of water. As I leaned over to pick it up,I saw something "scurry" under a rock.....so I flicked it over with the knife, and there he was,all lit up in all his glory  Tipped out my coffee, and caught him in there to show the kids.....after a quick look, and a "lecture" about them, sent him on his way
  6. I guess we're not going to know for sure until some-one posts a pic or video on here.As already stated, there have been some unusual captures in the lakes over the years,so No-one ever expected a mini submarine in Sydney Harbour in 1942 either.......
  7. Thanks adamibinfishin, will check them out too.Cheers for the input guys
  8. I've caught plenty of socks and t-shirts from the rowing club over the years......
  9. (Deep Voice)........"If I was a rich man........"
  10. At night time yes......day time,go home and watch Young and he Restless
  11. Good vid indeed! For under a float,I like to just pin them in the shoulder. To cast them 50m or so,I like to pin through the tail
  12. Thanks naydonov, absolutely fantastic links, and just the sort of stuff I have been looking for Sorry,I don't know what your text before your smilie says as I don't speak nor understand the lingo I'm assuming it means "cheers" or "good on ya".Not much of a Ruskie am I?......but I do like Vodka
  13. That's what I was sort of thinking.....both classy units, and money well spent either way.Personally,I like the look of the Daiwa, but if the "hands on performance" was "superior"on the Stella, then I would be prepared to live with the "ugly duckling"
  14. Hi all. With Xmas upon us,and years of "old school" tackle use behind me,I thought I'd throw a few roubles around.Just been looking at specs online for Daiwa Saltiga Z 6500 H Dogfight and Shimano Stella 20000.Both are similar in most specs......even price.Want to fish 50lb braid........HARD ! Does anyone have any first hand experience in the field with these reels?Especially interested in what you tackle store guy's have to say Cheers in advance.
  15. Thanks aarron Sure as Hell couldn't miss those squid, even without my specs
  16. What's on the front cover?.......just in case I leave my glasses home
  17. Great job spog, she looks like a beaut, and deserves her retirement.
  18. wow, that makes the area look like a little pond!
  19. Another good one I have seen on snapper was called Steel City Reds or Steel City Snapper from memory.....Whyalla.Think that was by Steve Wade?????
  20. perhaps get the old one fixed at a reputable dealer???????
  21. sorry, got me buggered.....was gonna suggest ABU 6500 or the like......but I'm "old school" and don't keep up with the latest "fashion"......not a "tackle tart" as the Poms would say

    New outfit

Howdy all,I have fished for sharks and rays for the last 35 years or so,and have fished "everything" from a Penn 4/0 through to 12/0and the "best spinner" a Daiwa GS 9 Currently I have a TLD 50 loaded with 700 odd yards of 50lb,but want to "try something else".Thinking along the lines of a Saltiga DogFight 6500 spooled with 50PE and a matching rod.Reckon it holds 500 of 50lb?Appreciate some thoughts before I lay out the hard earned roubles CheersUSSR
  23. Sorry, not "familiar" with the rod.......can you give length, cast weight / line weight etc?Budget for reel $100.......look at Cashies
