Pillie dont go for second best m8.Nice matching rod for running 24kg on it would be a saltiga 63s or a saltiga combi jerk pe4.Ive got both and caught kingfish to 70lb on them and the action is second to none..other choices for cheaper would be the catalina rods or maybe a saltist demon blood.T curve are fantastic to.Those catalinas are beautiful reels and deserves a beautiful rod to compliment it.Trust me m8 spend that bit extra and you will never part with it and will be really pleased with it..Oh also no need for 80lb rod.lots of fish fall victim to the saltiga game pe3 and 3500 size reels,a

Where is the CHEAPEST online place to buy Reels?
gary glitter replied to dmac's topic in Bait & Tackle
We have tackle shop rip offs here theres no doubt.Yes they will do what they can to get the sale but probably wouldnt have to if there prices were good..Ive seen saltiga rods for instance one shop 450 next shop 500,next shop 659 dollars..you certainly have to be aware where you shop, thats for sure..As for buying of the internet.I say if you can get a bargain then why wouldnt you.We all work hard at the end of the day and some work hard and just get by week to week with familys ect,so why put your familys out an extra 50 bucks.hey theres an extra 50 to maybe get the mrs a gift..you may get bro -
Mine is catching my first Snapper weighing 11.4kg gutted and gilled of Glenelg jetty in September of 1994.took me 12 yrs to beat that pb..

Surf fishing for Mulloway - Rods. Reels & Tackle ?
gary glitter replied to Discovery Journey's topic in General Fishing
I personally think you should use mono because it seems as though you havent had to much experience at casting big baits and braid would be your nightmare, and bloody costly at that.you could use a paternosta a running style paternosta, running sinker with easy rig, smallish ball sinker and walk the beach with bait going with rip, theres just so many rigs on any given day and beach, but alot of people use paternosta and grapnel sinker... -

Surf fishing for Mulloway - Rods. Reels & Tackle ?
gary glitter replied to Discovery Journey's topic in General Fishing
I cant stand braid on overheads in the surf especially anything under 50lb,if ya get a slight over run,SNAP.I just use a calcutta 700,20 to 30lb mono,10ft sabre.I only use braid on my calcutta in the surf when casting big metals. -
saltist lw 50 ha or tekota 700 for snapper opinion
gary glitter replied to ramo's topic in Bait & Tackle
tekota ,saltist, calcutta 700 all great for snapper.saltist 30t is good for kings aswell and calcutta700 not bad for them either.caught a 51lb and 44lb king on calcutta 700 with out any dramas at all.I like my calcuttas and been using them for 10yrs so i would say get one of them.but wont go wrong with the others either. And mwilson you did learn the hard way but seriously that was a friggin animal of a king, but in saying that WHYALLA BRAD would of scull dragged that fish in haha -
no just curious if recent thats all.
-
how old is that photo/hello kat, nice to see a lady catching kings for a change to.My king in my avatar went 112cm and weighed 14.5kg so yours is roughly the same but still a lovely fish.this kingfish is my smallest ive caught but i love the photo.i fish up there alot and love the place, ive caught and lost lots of kings, nice mulloway and snapper.my favourite place in sa to fish.
