  3. Hi Reeve,I've always known them as periwinkles. My grandpa used to crush them up and use them as whiting burley. He even had a mincer just for the job!Pretty sure he used to eat them too. Possibly by boiling them and I think I remember him picking the flesh out with a pin? I don't ever recall any bag/size limit but that was a long time ago. Dan C
  4. Hi all,I was wondering if tidal movement is the same through the whole water column? I'd guess it flows quicker near the top but maybe not? Would it also depend on the depth? I guess bottom/structure/land would also have an effect?Just curious!Cheers,Dan C
  5. I think I read somewhere gummys are starting to show up at Goolwa? Might've been the Sunday Mail so probably not too reliable though!Cheers
  6. With some of the lizards you catch Des you're lucky you haven't lost an arm!
  7. Hi all,At risk of sounding like a wanker, I think the spikes have an anti-coagulate on them. This means it stops your blood from clotting and you bleed for ages. I reckon I also read or heard the slime from the flathead helps stop the bleeding? Go figure, problem and solution all in one. Lucky they're so bloody delicious!Dan C

  10. Sorry, couldn't get the links to work. Searched for mincers on eBay. Also commercial stick blenders. They're the expensive ones!
  11. There's a few on eBay I always thought something like this would be great for making burley but they're pretty expensive
  12. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-07-29/divers-find-shark-strung-up/4850334?pfm=msI seriously don't understand some people. I guess we don't know the full story but this looks pretty barbaric.

  21. Hey Molser,I'd say best to suss it out when you get there. Sometimes there's boats there, sometimes there isn't. Sometimes the end is open, mostly it's not. There are enough jetties around to keep you busy. Louth Bay jetty is god for squid too.Cheers,Dan C
