  8. have caught a couple of the slimy little buggers off the ledges around gull rock, maslins beach.Didnt know they could grow to 6kg though!! mine were similar size too yours
  9. all of the above work but method used depends on the conditions your fishing such as current strenght, depth of water etc and that the burley is working for you and not against you. If your fishing deep water areas with alot of current by the time it hits the bottom it could be hundreds of metres away from where your fishing! For me personaly ive had good results with fishing deep water on dodge or slow moving tides by using cube or cut sections of freshly caught mackeral and dropping a few pieces every few minutes over the side which sinks pretty well straight down under the boat where your ba
  10. its in the latest fishing world mag with bushy holding a bream on the cover page 32
  11. Was just reading an article in a recent fishing mag about charter boats around Lord Howe Island having a strict catch and kill policy with no catch and release allowed.. can't believe this crap still occurs in this day and age when fish stocks are struggling!! i would prefer to not go fishing if thats the case... apparently they sell whatever is caught mainly big breeding kingies!! hope theres no charters using this practice in South OZ! any thoughts on this topic?
  12. thats a yes for me... love the way a livie struggles sending those pulses down the rod when its about to get nailed then WHAM!! can't beat it(actually catching em on a lure kicks arse also) cheers snake

  15. well done statesquider thats an awesome fish on whiting gear!!! great photo!!!
  16. the scare mongers have convinced some people that a released shark will swim off and bite someone, totally un-educated advise but they will always put human safety first and thats where the fight gets difficult for the recreational fisho...
  17. around 2m... its the pollies u have too worry about not fisheries they bend too public pressure!!
  18. just saw a snippet about the banning of shark fishing on jetties after another shark being caught on ten news tonight! here we go again a couple of do gooders spoiling it for the rest of us!!! if this law comes in it will be up too them to prove i was targeting sharks and not snapper or rays!!! get ready for a shit storm everybody... man this pisses me off!!!
  19. i could fart harder than a 5 knot wind[9.2km/h] around 15knots[27.7km/h] and more is when it starts getting shitty
  20. people from all over australia travel here too tackle our big snapper because for most people its their only chance of catching a 20LB plus fish! Same as we have too travel up north if ya want too catch a barra.. we get a lot of flak from the other state being South Aussies but when it comes too big snapper we are the kings!!
  21. well it was a restless nights sleep last night because today was the day too head down to the tackle shop and purchase my new wilson live fibre rod and i am happy too inform you all that i am now the proud owner of a [insert drum roll].....diawa 7'6" catalina 762MH!! awesome rod!! dont get me wrong the wilson l/v is a great rod but for only $30 extra the quality of this rod made choosing the catalina easy... p.s. mmm, was that the sound of russian dancing bears breathing a sigh of relief? indeed it is USSR!! cheers snake
  22. i would buy a rod to suit the reel u have already, i've wasted heaps of cash buying fishing gear for those once in a lifetime fishing trips and once the trip is over just watch it gather dust.I guess the other option is spend the money if it gives u the confidence u need to not let u down and turn your trip into a pleasant experience and not a disaster and maybe sell it at a slight loss when u get back putting it down too a sucessfull and fun trip outweighing the monetary loss you incur. good luck on your trip
  23. you should definitly give it a go jimbo, you have the perfect little vessel too crack ya first lure caught mully in. take it down port river and anchor up right next to the main road bridge pylons and gently jig soft plastics a few feet off the bottom.Once ya get that first lure caught mully in the yak you'll be set!! good luck mate
  24. by the way i'm scrapping the advertiser with date attached bit but by golly if i see any 70's hairdos and people wearing flares holding up a mully(except ranger of course) there will be... um,er well what ever it is it won't be nice trust me!!!
