  1. mullet in north haven too, not monsters but some decent ones
  2. I heard Jimbo's canoe is a good spot for a mully or two
  3. lol, its still just squidding, also I reckon squid have colour vision, the most similar to ours in the animal kingdom was what I heard. more lies and propaganda than an episode of Ifish or ET in that lot.
  4. used to be 200m I reckon, may have changed to 300m now, definate no no at any rate

    fishing rod

Keep your eye on the buy and:P sell section of this forum, some great gear comes up at bargain prices, picked up a reel with line which Ive disrespected mightily on many a good fish, given it a swim (thanks Mr percival) and its still going strong.Other wise those ET escape combos would be a good start but if you can fork out a bit more go a bit more up market for the reel at least.Quality gear pays for it's selfPS ease up Jack I'll give you the Bream tally but if you've caught more than 500 million ST's I'll drink your tuna oil
  6. You buying me a new fishing rod Jack? Think you can strtch to a T-curve
  7. Not protected are they? Big bream love the small ones.Yet to intentionally use them as bait but on a few occasions have been catching a few of those ugly suckers only to have them smashed on the retrievePS Brenton I'm colour blind too, very. Do you find you spot fish heaps better than your lesser evolved fishing mates?
  8. super sized gar on a 3/0 hooked in the mouth snapper fishing off the rocks was pretty weird but a 40cm yellowfin whiting at night snapper fishing middle of winter off shore in 40ft wins it for me Also all the usual suspects above + big tommies, big leatheries..... well pretty much big versions of all your regular species.I agree, pillies are a ripper all round bait choice.

    Eulogy

Just snapped my favourite little rod rigging up for my morning session and I'm a little upset. It was a good little rod and we had many good times together not least last weekends Wallaroo jetty trip where I suspect the fatal blow was landed by a large unknown assailant, it will be sorely missed.A service will be held tomorrow afternoon where I will conduct the ritual stripping of the guides and burial in with all the other junk in my shed.Profiler 2008-2011 R.I.P.
  10. I have 7 or 8 combos that get a regular run but 1 standout which is first packed for every session. My little tierra 1500 and fin nor flick stick combo spooled with 6lb braid, I down sized from a 2000 daiwa and 10lb line and there's no going back.It gets used for flicking out tiny unweighted baits to catch live bait to sending pillies down a burley trail for reds.I love it and thrash it and it loves me back

    Hey Guys

Even though many will poo poo the idea these days' date=' dont overlook Fireline or Fireline Crystal for a good cheap braid (gelspun) to get you started.[/quote']True words from ranger, and for the record I can tell you from experience that some pretty big fish can be caught on a 1500 size reel full of 6lb braid and in my opinion the small gear is the sweetest to use and gives you advantage when fishing ultra light lures.
