  1. Yeh you need to pay attention when retrieving line that you lay on evenly but after a bit of time using them this just becomes second nature and is quiet easy to do without thinking about it to hard.
  2. Yeh they are a great invention, terrific off the beach. If they get covered in sand give em a dip no dramas or worries, id have a heart attack if some of my egg beaters hit the sand. Ive seen blokes cast the alveys further than i could ever get with my best effort regardless of whatever real im using, are you one of those guys khombi.
  3. Wherever its cheapest tbh, havent used ebay or mojo's though. Most of my gear has come from Tackle World Salisbury, Kym always seems to look after me there.
  4. Well done, nice fish mate. The scale set up in the net is pretty cool to by the way. Best of luck for the 20 pounder.
  5. I think anything that inhibits the target species from being suspicious of a line attached etc would be an advantage particularly in areas that sea a lot of fishing activity. Definitely worth a go.
  6. I would expect far less injuries from bumping heads on it compared to those attemting to fish/crab and jump from it.
  7. Hello khombi i think tacklebags answered the questions you had so i wont elaborate except to say to the best of my knowledge the nets are very similar with subtle differences to gear and differences to technique. Any question is a good question mate so feel free to fire away. I'll try to answer them or source the answer if i'm unsure.
  8. Does this help.http://www.theropepeople.com/LobsterBouyHitch.html
  9. It is nice to see Minister Caica taking a stand, overdue. My whole premise on stopping it fishing SA waters is off the back of WA, Victoria and Tasmania's stance to it, if NSW can get onboard and all bills are passed we can circumnavigate any decision the federal Government makes, the problem will be Commonwealth waters to a large degree and how much pressure the various state Governments can apply to the Federal Government should permission be granted. Would take a bit of money to get all the available data on sustainability to appease each states concerns on various species hopefully thats en
  10. Another gem from Minister Caica. How obvious would it be to put them under the jetty but no wait that would be the right thing to do aswell as keep the jetty fully functional. Maybe he was worried that we would all start to panic should the Government start getting things right in this state.
  11. I agree RJ it does seem odd, hence Sea Fish Tasmania trying to purchase more quotas of certain species to make it even more viable as a Economic enterprise.
  12. I was wrong regarding the egg beater ausea its actually a Mitchell 303 Salt Water Series and the overhead is a Penn65 Long Beach.
  13. Hello khombi As i understand it the super trawler would of operated under the same legislation that governs the smaller trawlers. The problems that concern ARFF, the Greens, Federal Gov,Independents, Scientists,Greenpeace etc is the current legislation while protecting the enviroment ie scale, fin stocks protected or otherwise from small trawler operations will not be sufficient to protect it from a vessel this size that can travel further and remain longer in a given area therefore applying much more fishing pressure to a given area for an extended period of time. The concerns are n
  14. To be fair, they ain`t about to become extinct, not in SA at any rate. :whistle:Yeh well aware of that fact kon regarding "GetUp".I was a bit surprised that the number was ten a day, the number can get pretty large over a year, fishing a couple of hundred days a year.
  15. Hope you get it mate, $49 is a great deal for a bit of history. What do you intend to do with them. I wonder what Dads is worth not that id ever part with it, to much sentimental value as Dads no longer with us.
  16. lol the stars and stripes classy haha. As you said they are bullet proof not much to go wrong in em.
  17. Mine is very similar to the black one but without the drilled spool and its more of a flat black in colour with the name in white written on the side. Tried to dig it out then with a torch but to hard without waking people up, will get it for sure tomorrow. how much was the one you bought if you dont mind me asking. Appologies for getting off topic here a bit but i like old tackle.
  18. That's a ripper ausea, how old is that one. I'll dig mine up tomorrow and take a couple of snaps and put them up. From memory my old Penn egg beater is a seafisher or something like that. Its black i can say that lol..
  19. I have a old 650 mustard yellow one that would be easily 25+ years old still looks like new and has never missed a beat, dont use it that much anymore but i like my stuff, i have an old Pennegg beater thats was my Dads that looks like it just came out the box that would be 40 years old and a Penn overhead. Can never part with tackle much to the wifes dismay.
