  3. Great catch there champ. Even better on your own flies to!Won't be selling my prawn fly mate, hadn't given it a thought either...haha.. Especially now that I have seen what they are capable of. I reckona few bream will probably fall victom to it before I catch something like this though !
  4. can you give an example of the format in the book ?ie; 0.27:06352.01:1324This would equate to 0.27mtr low tide @ 6.35am with a high of 2.01mtr tide @ 1.24pmHope this helps
  5. Bream and YFW hopefully Mickyj. After reading some of your reports I have some faith in the poppers on fly !
  6. Sounds good !Any edge on Tony is a good one..
  7. When ever I get a chance mate. Hopefully Friday arvo !! Got some good reddie killers in there
  8. Newly purchased flies to kick start my new found avenue for targeting fish !!
  9. Have seen them in the onk (including sullies ramp) and as far up the prt as the northern entrance to the westlakes (port side) as well. Nothing better than watching them walking straight into the nets in clear water... too easy !
  10. Mate the good thing about crabs is there is no hard and fast rule. Sometimes they are out deep - 40ft and some time they prefer 15ft, have a chat to the boys at the ramp to see where they are when you launch. Last year I was after a feed for a big family do (and south was slow) so I launched at glenelg. went straight out 400 mtrs and threw out the squid jags in a likely looking spot. After pulling a heap noticed the crabs on the move below so dropped anchor. Didn't move for 3 hours, bagged out on crabs and gar and even came close on the squid. Pot luck really !Normally peak summer me and the o
  11. Some sound advice there.there's a saying...If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.Everytime i talk to a new audience to give a lecture/brief etc... first thing we do is point out to everyone where the exits are and evacuation points in case of an emergency.must say... never pointed them out to people getting into the boat for a first time. that may change now....
  12. Alway just used chicken pellets and tuna oil. My old man went and picked up a 25kg bag of chicken pellets the other day for $30.... will probably last a couple of years !! Combine that with tuna oild and it doesn't have to cost much or be too difficult... never failed either !!Grab a 1 lt or 2 lt cordial or juic bottle, tie a rope to the handle, punch a few holes in it with a screw drive and your in buisness. Doesn't get much easier.
  13. Sounds good to me !! Remember seeing pleanty of mullet pulled from down thre as well.
  14. Can help ya with the snook and the bronzie matebut have no idea apart from what I have read about YFW. I'm thinking a nice little fly popper down the onk with the new fly gear could be called for once they start to show.
  15. You know how to leave a bloke hanging.... Not sounding good so far! well the end anyway
  16. Shame about the mullie Sambo:pinch: I headed upto LBB's to do some SAFWAA stuff and had a quick flick. Baby Rainbows going nuts everywhere even 3 goign the SP at one stage. Lots of knocks but no takers sadly. Even tried small Sp's.Had a chat to LBB and grabbed his fly gear and had a crack thinking I was a sure thing. One take but didn't set the hook :S Rises everywhere but just had fun practising my new learned skill. Thanks again LBB.
  17. Nice work rangfish... could be the start of a rod building career !!
  18. Look for the deep holes and you should find some salmon held up against a bait fish school. great fun on the Sp light gear. bream and mullies possible but always a heap of St's !! you'll have a ball either way. Heard there is a lot of weed up there at the moment from the fresh.
  19. Sunline PE Braid all the way for me. The 10lb is that thin it's almost worth using instead of 6lb. Tried a few now and keep going back to it. Would like to try the orange sunline (rockfish or something) as I have heard this is very abbrasive resistant also.300mtrs for around the $70 mark makes it very comparable, if not better value for money to the ones you pay $30 - $50 per 125yards. 2 Spools easy depending on it's use. Tough as nails and virtually no wind knots. If you are inlucky and get one, they pull through effortlessly.Vanish or Nitlon leader all the way !!Another tip.... learn your kn
